Talking Made a trunk spoiler for my F-Type

Although I think the bare boot of the F-Type is one of the most beautiful rear ends this side of Jessica Biel, I wanted to add SOMETHING.
No one makes a small lip spoiler, so I bought two small spoilers and cut them up to make one (three-piece) to fit.
I realize many will not accept a modification such as this, but I am all about modding, and I can remove this in minutes if I ever choose.

Piecha and Arden both make a similar small spoiler, but they are larger and rather expensive. Besides, I like doing my own mods... fun hobby.

I’m never one to mod things but must say it’s not bad. It is your car do what makes you happy.

Love the rims.

Ok that looks brilliant. I need all the details PLEASE, PLEASE. where you bought it and the how to fit, is it solid when cut, that is the ends look good when seen in the open position, a must have for me

Thank you!
Here are some close-up pics showing the ends.

From inside, with the hatch raised:

This was a DIY project. I bought two solid rubber spoilers off eBay; I think they were for a Honda Civic. Marked the pieces up to best fit the curves of the car, and cut them (oversize) with a simple box knife.
Test fit, sand, test fit, sand, repeat until they were the right shape & length. I had to heat them up to bend them to the curves of the Jag. Getting the angles was critical, and I spoiled one piece by cutting it at the wrong angle, and it was too short to fix. Good thing there were two spoilers to work with.
After getting them cut and sanded to shape, I sanded all exposed surfaces down to 600-grit.
Spray the parts with an adhesion promoter (I used BullDog).
Spray a few coats of primer- Use a flexible primer, or a flex agent should be used to prevent cracking the paint when you bend the parts into shape; the BullDog works well for that too. Mix at 1/3 BullDog to 2/3 mixed paint.
Sand with 600 grit, including ends. Respray & re-sand any areas that aren't covered with primer.
Paint with color coat. Make sure no runs or holidays exist. Do not sand color coat unless you plan on re-spraying (you will flash the metallic)
Add flex agent to clear & paint ~3-coats of clear. wait 5-10 minutes between coats.
If you are really good and no dust gets in the paint you can skip wet sanding... otherwise wait a few days for the paint to fully cure, then wet sand with 1500, then 2000, ultra fine, etc.
Go through the 4-5 steps of polishing to reach a level, scratch-free shine.

Adhering the parts to the car is pretty simple. Clean both surfaces with a de-greaser or mild solvent (I used denatured alcohol). Use 1" wide Scotch 3M high-strength outdoor mounting tape, adhering to the spoiler first. You only get one chance so make sure the parts are properly in place, and slowly peel the backing off the tape as you stick the parts to the car.

Too much info... sorry.

This is a pretty simple project, but getting the parts cut properly and painted without issue is a long tedious, task.

Cost for the spoilers was ~$60 for both. The paint was ~$260. Labor was free

Hear, hear. Very nice, subtle, well executed, and your description of the process is outstanding. It looks OEM. The overall appearance of the car is excellent. Now, what about the Town & Country.

Hahaaa! Thank you for the comment!
Hey, the T&C is our all-purpose work vehicle. Absolutely love it.
I would love it a lot more if it had another 150hp, AWD, and adjustable suspension, but it is good at what it does.

That looks really good. I'm not sure I understand how the ends are constructed though. Are there end caps and did you fill them in with a body filler and paint over that? Do you have a link to the actual product you purchased?

Thank you!
These are solid; no end caps. Searching through eBay you will find some that are hollow, but those cannot be cut to size or the ends will be open. I wouldn't recommend using body filler on this material.
Here are a few links to similar products. The material is "like" solid rubber, but is actually a man-made PUF (Polyurethane Foam)... but it is a closed-cell material, so when you cut it the ends are as solid as the other surfaces, and can be sanded smooth.

These spoilers are just the base material for the project. The real cost is the labor required to cut and form them into the proper shape... and the PITA process of painting them.

Wow, that's awesome. So you can just cut them off and essentially sand them to create the shape you want. Now I'm very intrigued. I wonder how it would look if the spoiler was just installed on the part that deploys? Can anyone photo chop that? I'd be willing to take that on and perhaps recreate them for others if we end up liking it.

How did you bend it though? I know you mentioned with a heat gun, but on or off the car?
