Default Making the R louder

Yes, I know. Many of you think I am crazy for considering this. The R sounds awesome. Why would I want something louder? Because I am crazy.

I am coming from a 2016 Challenger SRT, moving on to the F-type R coupe soon. The SRT sounded fine, but I removed the mid mufflers, and didn't regret it one bit. Woke up the car, with some pops and crackles.

What would be the best move in giving the R a little more growl, with even more pops and bangs? I am not looking for a full exhaust replacement.

Thanks for the advice!

I would suggest you drive your new acquisition a bit with the LOUD button turned on prior to making any changes as many of us have discovered that is more than ample. Anything louder will make you stand out like an inconscient teenager.

Already have tested it out. Guess I am a 17 year old obnoxious teenager, oh well. Everyone has different tastes in sound. Go tell that to the people buying VelocityAP exhaust systems as well. I would look into those if there were enough video's out there.

I agree with ndabunka, the stock sound evel with the exhaust open is plenty and quite frankly this is a Jaguar and not a Dodge. Further, while it sounds cool and I too am guilty of driving an F-Type, it quickly becomes inconsiderate of others just like cruising down the neighborhood at 5mph with the windows down and blasting rap music. +1. As it is, I have my neighbors complaining if I turn it on too early in the morning. At idle. To each his own, make it louder if it turns your crank. I want to avoid the peasants revolting and showing up with pitchforks and torches at my front door

It's your car so your decision. If you have already listened to the options before and after then let that 17 year old out

Although I do listen to Classic Rock from the 70s, 80s & 90s, the only "urban" music I am likely to listen to would be Marc Antoine's Urban Gypsy

The two things I would do but cannot.

LOUDER! - Snotty neighbors would revolt. Already have to start her with the garage door closed.

LOWER! - Driveway from hell, cannot.

Quick Silver has an exhaust a pretty well known YouTuber had on his R a while back. It's very hard to hear true sounds in videos. The VAP downpipes seem like a good start, though I believe I read a post on here that they through a code in certain scenarios, which is not ideal.

You might also want to consider upping the induction and supercharger noise.

I haven't looked under the car to see if there is room, but electric exhaust cutouts are a great way to have it both ways. I installed cutouts on my SRT8 ten-years ago and have absolutely loved them. You can keep the car quiet 95% of the time, and only open them up when "needed". I opened them often when in parking lots, just to alert people walking through, otherwise oblivious to traffic. They helped alert "left lane sloths" that they need to move right. They were also great when picking up my daughters from downtown, as they could hear me and come to the car.
I may do this to my F-Type as well, but I will only do it if I can fit them without reducing my ground clearance (I was constantly dragging them on driveway crests in my SRT8, but it is lowered).
The F-Type R, and our BMW 650i, both start up LOUD, and you can't switch that off. There should be a setting to prevent this (and save your relationships with your neighbors).

We have videos of them on both V6 and V8, which do you have?

Also, we offer fixed sound level exhausts in 3 different sound levels (Supersport, Sport, Touring), as well as valved (Race/Touring) options.

Have you covered for just about every possible preference

The R has the equivalent of an exhaust cutout standard. I use mine often.

As soon as you start the F-Type, put it in gear and then back into Park. That will tame the beast. But yes, you can't stop the initial bark.

I leave my garage door down, hit start, reverse, park again - then open the door.

(At night or other times my neighbors would be on the warpath).

Lol, I wouldn't do that to my neighbors. But then again I wouldn't care if they got annoyed by the noise

I'm sure your neighbors will be sad to see you go.
