Default manual F

Just drove the S manual yesterday. Love it. Thinking about trading my XKR and ordering a coupe S just like I want it. Question: I have the JCNA discount of $2500. Are they coming off sticker any on these? Anyone getting one at a discount?

How did you feel about the throw,I've read it's quite long but I believe an aftermarket short-throw shifter is already out there...

Can you provide any information on that short this shifter you speak of?

The throws on the F-Type are way too long for my liking.

Throws are excellent for me. Very few things I would change on this thing.

I thought the throw was fine. However, the car I drove, I thought the clutch took a bit long to engage; about half way. I like it to be a little quicker.

Is yours a manual 2016? Just wondering, I can't remember which one you have. Do you think there is some negotiating position on a car ordered to spec?

Look in the "Who has ordered the 6-speed" thread. He's all over that thread like a cheap suit.

I ordered to spec and had no expectations of additional discounts. I got the JCNA rebate, but did not negotiate at all. I really don't enjoy haggling, and asked the dealer to order what I wanted. When it arrived, I picked it up.

There may be some negotiating room even for a car ordered to spec, but I don't know. When I said I don't enjoy haggling, I really meant that I actively dislike it. I got exactly what I asked for and paid MSRP, less the rebate. To some, that makes me an idiot. They can say what they want, but I got what I wanted with no grief whatsoever.

I wouldn't go with a rating of excellent, but certainly very good. The clutch feel is much better than my C30, but still could be better. It's a little vague, but has a little more effort than the C30, which is welcome. That's overly soft and even more vague.

We have the same tranny as the 235i and 335i BMWs. 2 or 3 companies offer a short shift kits for that tranny.

Edmunds says to expect about $2,500 off MSRP, but I've found they're generally a bit high. I thinklhoboy's $4,500 sounds reasonable. I think you can generally do fine custom ordering vs buying off the lot (unless it's the end of the model year). While the dealer always wants to move on-hand inventory, nothing is easier than entering an order and cashing a check. You don't need to spend a lot of time in the showroom to negotiate a hard deal. Work with the internet sales rep and you may not need to set foot in the door. You've got several dealers in the region to work with, and it helps if they have "competition" with another brand.

+1, and no floor plan interest to raise the vehicle's cost. Let internet sales compete to see how much profit they demand in a no risk delivery-only deal, and they hope to gain a service customer. It works that way.

As I understand it, car dealers in the U.S. regularly attempt to add extras such as advertising costs to the price of cars? Or is that apocryphal?

i have seen that in the deep past, but I can't say if it's still happening anywhere. I didn't see it at the 3 jag dealers I went out for bid to.

That's pretty common in one form or another. Probably not called "advertising" per se - more likely Regional Assoc (where they pool advertising), Doc/Document Fees, Administrative Fees. Overall, you can expect $400-$800 that they'll claim is non-negotiable. In addition, cars on the lot may already have puffs, such as Paint Sealant, Fabric Protection, Cargo Mats, etc. They used to routinely have a line for Dealer Prep until it became widely known that the Manufacturers pay them directly to do that. For a car in hot demand, there might be a Market Adjustment. I saw one that was forthright enough to call it Additional Dealer Margin.

I'm seriously pondering it.

The 08-13 one series used that trans too, and there are about 6-8 companies offering a short shift kit for those. Might as well pull the boot off and see if they look similar.

I dealt with Desert Eureapon in Rancho Mirage and it was the cleanest deal I've ever done in terms of fees and extras, none! Multi brand high end dealer. Rest of deal was normal back and forth but once that was done no BS!
