Mina Upper Intake Kit
Has anyone put this on their car, I am more than a little skeptical of the 8-13 wheel HP boost?

I have the lower intake kit on my F-Type (just the lower kit, no upper kit) and it advertises a very similar boost of 7-14 hp at the wheels, see here: https://minagallery.com/jaguar-f-typ...-tube-filters/
That claim is probably hype as well but if either kit really does increase hp I guess that the lower kit would be more likely to do so, seeing as it replaces the air filters, air filter boxes and baffles while the top kit replaces just the upper intake tubes. Also, if both claims are to be believed both kits together would increase hp by 15-27 although the ad for both kits says 13-23 see here: https://minagallery.com/jaguar-f-typ...be-filter-kit/. That sounds a fair bit OTT to me as it is well known that the stock intake system on the F-Type is pretty good.
I bought the lower kit for one thing and one thing only - a sizeable increase in SC whine - and it sure works for that, I did not hope for or expect any increase in hp but maybe there is a little, just too little to feel at WOT and high revs.
This is well documented. The Mina Gallery is not going to add more than maybe 1-2 HP if you are lucky. Depending on your setup/environment/region could potentially lose HP (there is a YouTube video out there that discusses this). Nevertheless, for those that want more SC whine and sound, this is the way to go, but the lower portion, not upper to get the sound, as it removes the baffles and the open air filters allow more sound through. For me, it is not worth the risk of adding more debris into the $700 a piece MAF sensors for SC whine that is often determine causes more stress on the SC itself. Nevertheless, if HP is your goal, your money is better spent elsewhere, if more SC whine is your goal, this is your solution.
There is also another kit available (cannot remember the name) that gives the same sound beneift, slightly better filters and design (IMO) however does not include the mounts to support the filters, so it would require you to make something. What is your ultimate goal? Performance or sound?

I have the full Mina Gallery on my R model. Personally I was going to sell mine as I sat on it for a year debating if it was worth putting it on considering it isn't overly easy to access. I decided to install and I am sure others would have had better success but it took me longer to install than it did for me to replace my rotors and pads. I don't think it did anything regarding performance. Aesthetically it looks nicer under the hood (subjective) and you can now hear the supercharger whine. Not sure if I did it all over again I would have added this mod. I don't necessarily regret it, but not sure the ROI was there for me.
Let's not forget that the OP is asking about the upper intake kit only and that kit does not increase the SC whine at all, it is the lower kit and only the lower kit which increases the SC whine.
I have just the upper Mina intake installed on my 2018 F Type R that I have been using mainly for track duties. I did not bother with the open lower portion as after much research on this forum and elsewhere, there just was no real added benefit to the stock air boxes that I have K&N filters installed in. The upper intake looks nice, although it is a tight fit. Can I notice a difference...well, it's hard to say as I had the car VAP tuned and changed both crank and supercharger pulley at the same time. Overall, the car pulls like a monster now that's for sure. But, as has been stated in the other posts, if you are expecting to see any noticeable gains from just the upper intake, I think you will be disappointed.
As far as any noticeable increase in SC whine, again, I cannot give you a helpful answer as I also put on the VAP race valvetronic exhaust with 200 cell cats...sooooo, all I hear is the raucous noise coming from the exhaust LOL.
Honestly, if you are looking for any mild gains with an F Type, just don't bother until your warranty is up and then just do a conservative tune, possibly changing the pulleys as well. That is, BY FAR, going to give you the most "seat of your pants" noticeable feel.

I installed the complete Mina intake. I have the OEM supercharger pulleys and exhaust. My F-Type sounds like a mini hellcat from the supercharger whine. The driver and others can hear it going down the road from the SC whine. I can't explain why others don't get the same results, but it was worth every penny and highly recommended.
It was a very tight install but worth it.
