Default Musty...Musty... Wet Convertible

New to the forum and also 5 hours into new ownership of a 2015 F-Type S V8 Conv with 15K miles. I noticed on the way home from the bank with the top up that there was a musty smell and the more I noticed it the worse it was of course. When I got home and started my crazy cleaning that I do I found the passenger carpet musty and damp both in front and behind the seat. I tested the 4 drains I am aware of (front and back) and they all flowed fine. Does anyone have experience with this? I think it was stored for a spell, but not outside. I've had 9 convertibles and never a leak so I am not an expert on this topic especially on a new model for me.... Any ideas?

It is either a flood damaged car or it was in a torrential downpour with the top down. Another possibility somebody got overzealous with a carpet cleaning machine. Usually a musty smell is from the car interior getting really wet and then sitting closed up for a long time. May be if you leave it in the sun with the top down it will dry out.

BTW did you buy it from a private party or dealer? Is it a salvage title car?

Private seller, one owner who I trust and I know the dealer from where it came. However, the seller in his 80's old so it's hard telling if he unknowingly washed the car with the windows or who knows. The car is practically new and it's a clean title. It suffers more from being ignored than any real deficiency. He told me it had been in the garage pretty much all summer. There were cobwebs from the dash to the windshield when I drove it home to give you some idea. We've had some terrible storms and flooding over the past month or so and I guess I'll get it dried out and go from there.

Is his wife incontinent, or a nervous passenger?

Perhaps both.... . I may pull the seat out and take a look under the carpet. Pretty smelly.
