Default MY2017 R Ordered

Order date was 1/11, with estimated build & delivery dates of 2/12 & 4/1. Only changes I noticed from MY2016 were the solar attenuating windscreen and a slight bump in price.

Congrats! What color/interior did you go with? Coupe or convertible?

Storm Grey coupe.
20" Blade wheels.
Black calipers.
Black pack & Vision pack.
Extended Leather pack.
Jet leather w/ jet stitching.
Heated front windscreen.

MSRP for the R coupe before options is now $108,250.

Even more eager than usual for this Milwaukee/Chicago winter to end.

Congrats... you will love it! I have a '16 Storm Grey R Coupe.

The MSRP was $103,600 before options. $4,650 (+4.4%) is a big jump from '16 to '17. I don't think you are getting anything extra / different besides the solar attenuating glass windshield, are you?

Congrat's!

I was in your position last year, ordered in late December, finally took delivery first week of May.

The only bit of advice I'd offer up is:
don't track the shipping vessel...it's excruciating.

I'm in the NW burbs of Chicago. Let me know if you ever want to hook up for a few spirited drives this spring. There's a handful of us with high performance/exotics that get together on a regular basis.

Again, congrats & good luck with the process

Ghost,

I saw this in another thread: "Any info on 2017 pricing yet?"

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/a...orderguide.pdf

Unless I misread the thread and you are getting a convertible and not a coupe, it looks like the pricing info you were given for the R Coupe might be off.

The MSRP for a 2017 R Coupe is $105,400 for a bump of $1,800 (+1.7%). This seems a lot more modest than the $108,250 you mentioned which is actually the MSRP for the convertible.

@MI-FType

Correct. I posted the convertible price above instead of the coupe. Hazard of reading a poorly scanned PDF on my phone in dim light last night. Was going to post that same order guide after I had a chance to whiteout some of my personal information that the dealer has written in the margins, so glad to see a clean version already has been shared.

All good... just glad you aren't getting ripped off

Congrats again. Now comes the hard part... the wait.

But why? Was there a press release stating anything new? Does Jaguar feel they are selling in good enough numbers to bump up the price in between model year without changes to the car?

Edit:
Did both of you exclude destination charges?

2017 pricing above excludes $995 D&D.

Infrared windshield & Valet Mode now standard on all models.

Adaptive headlights & intelligent high-beam are now standard on all models except the new entry F-type trim. Previously those were offered in the Premium+Vision pack on the base & S and the Vision Pack on the R. Convertible trunk space on all models is upped to 7.3 cubic feet from 7.0 cubic feet.

Didn't do the math to determine if it's a wash with the increased MSRP, but doesn't seem unreasonable. The introduction of a fourth trim level might also play a part in the pricing tiers.

It seems likely to me an analysis of F-Type buyers would show that we aren't price conscious enough to where a 1.7% increase has any noticeable effect on sales.

So, an extra bit of profit for them and no downside. Of course, it's also possible that costs have risen and that this increase reflects that. Hard for us to know without being on the inside.

Hey Ghost, I'm awaiting delivery of my F Type and have almost identical order, build and delivery dates. How did you find out about the Customs delay. The dealer I'm dealing with doesn't really offer me any details when I ask. I was supposed to take delivery tomorrow and now they tell me 4/1 without any explanations. Any info would be appreciated as I'm driving my wife crazy waiting for my baby to show up!!

The same "customs delay" seems to happen when the first new MY cars from JLR show up every year, and similar posts popped up here last year about the same time. If I recall correctly, someone received the explanation that it's related to a delay somewhere between JLR and the US gov getting the appropriate docs in order to show the new models are compliant w/ US specs before they can be legally imported. Until then, they would be held in port.

Interesting that I also have a 2017 with a delivery date of 4/1. I was honestly wondering if it had to do with not having the financing information ready to sell the cars in March.

Yep;

a) 1.7% is pretty minor

b) sounds like some options are now standard which easily pushes up the base price (but not the as-equipped price if you were going to get those options anyhow)

c) the price of labor and material goes up......steadily. I own a construction company and every quarter I get notices that certain products are increasing in price....it's no different in the automotive industry.

d) in a global economy, the comparative values of various currencies come into play as well.

2 cents,
Dave
