I was rummaging through my newly acquired 2016 F-Type to see what the PO might have left behind and came across something that I've never seen in over 50 years of working on my fleet.
It kind of looks like half a fuse, but with only one connector, I can't imagine what does - maybe a tiny capacitor? Of course it might have nothing to do with the Jaguar, but the markings seem to say otherwise.
Any help would be appreciated.
I wonder if it's simply a cap to cover an unused spade receptacle somewhere. If it only has the one spade connector on it, hard to imagine a use. Would be an odd way of connecting a small antenna.
The black strap is attached to the part - the other end is torn, like it was originally attached to something else.
The part was covered in the foam you see around it - the typical stuff you see around auto electrical connectors to avoid rattles. I had to peel it back to see the markings. It sure looks like it should be in the wiring harness somewhere - maybe to terminate a circuit.
Could this be some sort of GPS tracking device?
The strap and foam cover suggests to me that the prevous owner jury-rigged this for easy installation/removal from an out-of-the-way location.
I would look for the other end of the torn strap hanging somewhere difficult to see.
Perhaps he/she was tracking a cheating spouse?
Of course there could be other equally bizarre explanations, but I shall stick to mine until disproven!!
