Default So, no HUD for 2016 then?

Was kind of hoping that the 2016 F-Type would include the heads-up display that's supposed to be part of the upcoming XE's infotainment system. Looks like the F-Type will get the InControl apps etc. that were announced for the XE, but I haven't seen any mention of the HUD for the F-Type. Maybe for 2017?

Ha! Don't even need an F-Type, for that matter.

having had a car with the HUD, it's absolutely awesome and one of the things you miss terribly when you have had it.

For those interested, have a look at the upcoming Navdy offering which is attempting to offer a HUD for those cars that come without.

LOL but true---- and to your og post, HUD is a great option. While I might be ordering or buying a 2016, the Z06 is the other great option.

It's a toy.

There are places where it's really, really useful. But I note that while they are ubiquitous on fast jets, they don't feature on commercial airliners nor any purpose built civilian acrobatic aircraft

They also don't appear to have them in any closed cockpit racing.

Have you considered hiring someone to drive you around in your sports car at all?

I had HUD's in various cars for 10 years and it's awesome especially when driving fast, not having to look down to see the speedo or revs makes a big difference

Race car drivers don't use speedometers, and listen to how fast their engines are spinning

This is why you don't get RWD V8R models from next year folks: "features" are more important to you than driving.

Is there really any need for the continued snide and condescending comments?

It's really unnecessary, and it lowers the tone of an otherwise helpful and friendly forum.

Maybe, just maybe, you could be wrong? And that last sentence was genuinely nasty.

Just get one of those terminator microchips installed in your brain. That way you'll have hud everywhere.

So why don't you go buy an Aerial Atom, after all, race drivers don't have real windscreens. I guess your F type is very much overkill with it's air-con, DAB Radio (race driver's don't have that either), cruise control, carpets, leather seats, sound proofing and so on. You must hate every moment you drive such an over specced car on the roads.

That is an utterly daft and nonsensical comparison.

HUD is amazing - a shame it was not available.

Unless you prefer driving with grip over hooning.

Sorry if you think the comments are snide and/or nasty, but the desire to add "stuff" for its own sake is incomprehensible to me.

If this kind of equipment is the most important thing to you, there are many very worthwhile cars that have oodles of it.

But then, why are you buying an F-Type? I'm guessing that it isn't for the amount of "stuff".

Looks, sounds, the way it goes - yes or no?

I'm not a race car driver unfortunately

I'm just one of the billion other plebians on the planet who need to rely on a speedometer to tell how fast I'm going, and for that extraordinary use case I find that not taking my eyes of the road is easier then looking down at the console.
Maybe I suck at multitasking. Or maybe I have a point. People thought personal computers were useless toys too, back in the day.

I enjoyed the HUD in my C6 Z06, but I also don't miss not having it. Because one sits so low in the F-Type, having one would be nothing more than a minor eye shift difference. I think it can be more useful when the look-down required is greater.

Im guessing they are still developing it for the XE release. Its funny because HUD was pushed awhile back then it kind of fell off the radar. I guess the technology wasn't great yet. But it Looks like HUD tech has improved that it's making a comeback.
