Default Navigation Map Updates

Just traded out of a 2016 Jag XF to a 2016 F Type S AWD. The XF had the Incontrol Pro system which you updated the NAV via USB. Anyone have an idea how the map data is updated in the 2016 F Types with the Incontrol system? I was not able to find any SD card slot anywhere. The car handles incredibly well and is one great looking vehicle!

Thanks for your response Ironmike. I found the USB ports but Jay's online navigation site where you would download the software for navigation updates does not recognize the VIN of my F Type. The other option requires you to have the SD card mounted on your computer in order to get the map updates. I cannot find where in the vehicle the SD card is accessible and I could find no information online anywhere.

Perhaps your car is too new to have an update available? I installed an update earlier this year, though I don't have InControl.

Here's where I bought my update:

I have the same problem with my 2018 F type P300. There is no SD card slot in the cubby. So how do you update the map?

You download to a USB stick, as posted in the other thread.

A few years back there were some hackers that sold BMW map updates for about $39 on ebay. I bought a download from them, it worked.
I considered buying the map update from Jaguar. Massachusetts is the last state in the union to coordinate the highway exit numbers with the mile markers, so the cars maps
are accurate, but turn by turn is not. It's just nice having everything accurate.

DJS,

Do you feel, for $199, that this update is worth it? I don’t do a lot of traveling and for around town my 2016 system seems to do fine. Did you get any new features in the update?

I also do not have InControl so before I drop $200 I am hoping to see what kind of value added stuff I am getting besides 100k new restaurants and 100k that have closed……

$200 this year, $200 next year...it adds up.

Like I said, just be aware of your surroundings. If the SAT/NAV says to turn onto MA Rt XXX, do it, don't rely on the exit numbers matching up.

I still think that the Jaguar Sat/Nav is the worst one I've ever used (as far as routing and ease of use)...and my experience goes back to an old Garmin from 2004.

I also have my trusty Garmin with free map upgrades for life so, if I am not getting any real benefits from the Jag updates for $200 a pop, I will just pass until which time it can’t find my house……

If you have the Garmin computer apps BaseCamp or MapSource, you can devise routes on all back roads, and load THOSE onto your GPS.
