Default Navigation Mod

The voice guidance for my navigation was not working. I took the car back to the dealer and they corrected it by reloading InControl twice over a two day period. When I got the car back the navigation was still on. One thing I noticed was the voice guidance had a British accent. At the time I thought it made sense, British car with a British accent.

Fast forward six months to the next time I used the navigation. The British accent was gone. Then I realized that when InControl was reloaded I lost settings for everything and had to reset a bunch of things. One of those was the language, which I had set to English (US).

I found that resetting the language back to English (UK) brought back the British accent to the voice guidance. I figure a British car should have a British accent for the voice guidance so I am leaving the language set to English (UK).

We had a similar experience on the F-Pace. My wife rather liked having a British accent, but we ran into chronic problems with the ICTP. There were a number of issues in the early releases of ICTP, and using a non-US voice turned out to be one of the causes. It was the dealer who suggested switching back to US English (probably 3-4 years ago), and it definitely helped. There have been a couple of later system releases, but I've never retried the UK voice.

I suspect the accent you like is a southern (i.e. "proper"!) English one. Scots, Welsh, Scouse, etc. would all be considered British accents, and they're all very different (and mostly incomprehensible to us southerners)!

They need a voice with Cockney rhyming slang…

Where is the change made? Settings?
Also, is there anyway to 'deepen' the color of the map display? Mine looks somewhat 'washed out'.

Center touchscreen. Go to Settings then All Settings and then Language and Keyboard. Change language from English(US) to English(UK).

I love the British accent and purposely select it on my phone, cars, and any device that has that option.

My 2011 XF SC had a female British accent. That's what JLR needs to bring back!

My MY18 F-Type has a female "English" accent. It never went away!

So does my 2018 F-Type! See the instructions above on how to enable it.
