Default Need ideas to remove cross threaded bolt from coil

So nbr 5 cylinder got me again, I got the ignition coil bolt about a third of the way out and it started binding. It is binding to the point I cannot even turn the bolt, tried PB overnight and no help. Guessing the bolt was corroded at the tip and when it got to non-corroded thread it cross threaded. As I can tighten it back down relatively easy, but as soon as I get that point coming out, it won't budge without a lot of effort.

So unless anyone has a great idea, think I have two options.

1) Cut off the head of the bolt and leave the stud there, easiest way and just glue the new coil back afterwards.

2) cut head off and then replace valve cover while doing the injectors. Means basically removing everything on the topside.

Unfortunately no, it is the middle cylinder right next to the shock tower.

I'd try tightening it and loosening it a bunch of times. With any luck, each time the bolt will turn a bit farther. After you get it out chase the threads.

Heat is another thing to try, but don't use a torch since you could damage the coil. A large soldering gun (not an iron) could put heat into the bolt. It might cause the corrosion to loosen.

Acetone mixed with trans fluid is another corrosion buster.

One thing you may try (Have used it on Porsche Turbo exhaust parts)...Heat it, without burning as suggested(unless you are replacing coil anyway)...Get the bolt hot and use a candle or piece of wax pressed on it, and the heat will cause it to suck the wax down in the threads....Tap on it a bit to help brake it loose.

It has worked for me before.

Good luck.

Worst case scenario use a bolt extractor and then a helicoil if you do strip the threads.
