Unfortunately, that SVR is CGI and no more accurate a depiction than any of the configurator images. I would be interested to see what the real thing looks like.

Well, you have to admit at least its not black, white or gray. Color is a tough issue these days. There is a paucity of brochures, color chips are extremely rare, and seeing an uncommon color in inventory is difficult. And its not just JLR. However, it should not be missed that Jaguar UK shows THIRTY colors available as compared to the USA where twelve are offered. To give credit where credit is due twelve is not a bad number these days. Now often we are told JLR practices high margin a la carte option pricing when we talk about the standard equipment on our cars. Well how about when it comes to color. Offer the whole spectrum in the USA, charge what the market will bear, and take the a la carte pricing to the next step. There is no regulatory concern here. The colors are in stock. It only difference is the point of delivery. If JLR can offer Meribel White in the UK why shouldn't it be available here. The dealers can stick to black, white and gray, and folks who want to fork over bucks for Dark BRG can do it. The all purpose answer "Porsche does it" works here too.

But Porsche can rely on the myth of superior German engineering, Jaguar still suffers from the dark days of 70s and 80s reliability. Completely unjustified nowadays, of course, but ....

I didn't realize the 70s and 80s were the dark days. When I was in high school in the 60s, George Lucas "The Prince of Darkness" and Jaguar electronics were legendary. When I was in grad school the GF's XK 150 dropped a valve, but it was a 50s Jaguar. My 02 XK8 lasted 60K until everything fell apart (transmission, cooling system, ABS, ECM, etc). But my 14 F is running fine, other than the CD reported "mechanism error" on the way home from lunch today.
I forget. Is this the thread where there are comments about the quality of JLR paint jobs.
