Default New & improved 10 inch NAV screen upgrade ?

Hi guys,
Take a look at this video. Is this basically the same old same old or is this something new and improved than what we've seen in the past for the 10-in navigation screen upgrade. You decide. Thank you

I can't tell you whether it's old or new but I have this unit or at least the software running on this one. It's snappy, very responsive and has not glitched yet after 2 months of use. I would recommend it.

For the install you basically remove the brains from your OEM head unit and install it in here, then in the software you swap back and forth as needed for climate control (vents, etc) and the backup camera screen.

Wireless Android Auto has worked flawlessly.

@Evoex Is it Android 13 or higher? How is the sound output? Some have noted the volume is quite low on some of these units (probably all from the same factory in Shenzhen) compared to the OEM head unit.

I would definitely put one in if I had an older model F-Type just to have Torque Pro and JBV1 always running (which are not on Android Auto).

I am currently playing around with this unit plugged into my USB port:

I'll see if i can check the software on it as i'm about to head out.

Sound output is just fine, i don't discern any volume difference from the OEM head unit. And I'm sure much to the disappointment of my fellow enthusiasts, I like to blast my tunes!

No disappointment, but approval! I spent the first two years of ownership with music off just listening to the engine. But I love music too much and decided to replace the Meridian system, plus it became my daily driver.

To answer your question;

Glad to hear (pun?) you're into music as well. Pray tell what is your current setup? I think my driver's side tweeter is on the way out and I think id like to upgrade the behind the seat woofers/bass units if possible.

Thanks

@Evoex Those Androids specs look good. My stereo upgrade is in my signature. It was a lot of work, I learned a lot, but the best part is it sounds great. With your Android head unit you could probably go straight into a DSP/amp and bypass the Meridian amp altogether. Some threads to peruse:

Not looking for an entirely new setup. At least not at this point. But I'll digest some new info thanks!

Could you provide more info as to the cost and what you source your 10.25 inch unit?

I have had this head unit in my car for a few months. I can say it works great and the full band equalizer is a god send. The only issue I have had is that the parking sensors look for an all clear from the head unit before it has botted and it causes a warning. I can get around this by putting the car in accessory mode and let the error show then turning the car off then start as normal. Everything works after that. If anyone else has had this issue I would live to hear from you with tour thoughts

I've had no issues with either front or rear parking sensors.

@Tracy Rominger I wonder if its an Android booting issue - how long does it take to boot up fully? Some of the USB plugin wireless CarPlay units can take a minute (plus a reboot sometimes as well). There may be a setting to enable a faster boot up time.

What are "dynamic settings"?

Does the unit support the surround sound mode for those with the 770 amp and functional center speaker?

As you have a 2016 do you have the Bosch or Harman system?

Dynamic settings are custom settings you can select in dynamic mode - throttle response, suspension, etc. For whatever reason, I have red that this custom settings does not work with Android units (only the factory default mode = all performance settings ON).
I have Harman system without the center speaker, but I am willing to buy the OEM speaker and add it, if there is a reasonable way how to make it works.

The 'sport' settings for the car. If you buy the piggyback systems and try to change any sport setting from default it will glitch out.

Yes the surround sound still works on mine. Bosch.

- do you have to somewhere put their antennas, or does the unit use OEM built antennas in the car?
- do all speakers work, including the center one if you have surrond system?
- can you use OEM microphone, or the external one?

All speakers work.
Not sure about antennas.
External mic
