Default New noise

Hey everyone,

I have strange noise being heard from the front left wheel well on my 16 F type R and just wanted to get your guys opinion. I only hear it in 1st and second gear higher in the rev range. Sounds like maybe a dull metal rubbing or tire rubbing sound. My thoughts are wheel hub, motor mount or half shaft. Only things that have changed in the last 3 months was replaced break pads and had a torn CV boot on the same side as the sound that was replaced at the dealership. They “fixed” the boot but had to come back about a month later as it was not fixed and leaking grease again. No issues since.

Thanks for your time

Hi there, I doubt this is the same issue based on your description but I did have a tire rubbing sound on my 17 F-Type R that was heard at low speed and in particular when turning the wheel. Turned out that the wheel-well line had drooped down just enough to catch the edge of the tire when turned. I was able to loosen the hardware and lift the liner up just a hair and the issue went away. Good luck!

Thank you T-Money for putting your response. I came here this morning to ask the exact question that you just answered about my 17 F-Type SVR. I thought it was a rubbing sound but haven't been brave enough to get under there yet and look around. I'll do that this weekend. Thanks again and have a great weekend.

I was going to guess a motor mount as I had a very similar issue in a different car. I had someone rev the engine while I was looking at it and it was immedieately obvious.
