Default Whirling noise from right side!

Today when I was on my way to the tranny shop for a flush, my car started making a horrible loud whirl noise coming from the right wheel. When they hooked up the flush machine to my car to change the fluid, I noticed that the boot had exploded (I went thru a hell of pothole yesterday). It looked like the boot had just exploded because there was grease all over the area.

Can a Burt boot cause such a noise?

I am still learning about this car

Spike, it is possible. In short, you have worked all the grease out of the CV joint and now what you are hearing is the bearings in the joint grinding against each other. Unfortunately, you don't have a lot of time left on that CV joint unless you can get a new boot and repack it full of grease. Granted, the whirling noise may not go away and for the trouble that you are going to go through to get the boot on, you might as well put a new CV shaft into the car and not worry.

Thanks for all your help in these first few days if ownership.

*It seems* noise was an overfilled a/c compressor locking up. I have this bad habit of always adding a can of 134 to my cars since it seems that most a/c techs undercharge them. I have been somewhat underwhelmed by my X's a/c, so I added one can of refrigerant with just a hose (I was too lazy to get out the gauges I have. I purged some refrigerant from the system and now the noise is gone.
