Welcome to the forum.

Make sure to stay on top of oil changes, these engines have hydraulically controlled variable timing that goes disastrously bad with sludge.. F-type doesn't warn you about running low on oil, so take care to check it. Also, up until 2015 Jaguar's V8 had timing chain issue - I am not sure when exactly it was fixed, but make sure not to ignore sewing machine noises on the warm engine.

Also, take engine cover off, it traps heat and decreases durability of plastic cooling piping.

Last but not least, unless PO already done this, you are overdue on coolant and transmission oil and filter service. No, they are not lifetime fluids.

Thanks! Will be sure to address all of the above points

Lol . My son drives the IPL, the spoiled little..........! Your definitely upgrading. The FTYPE is a beautiful and powerful beast. Make sure you put Michelin P4S tires on that beast.. the RWD is fun but needs the super grip of the P4s. They are the perfect shoes for this car.

I didn't know about the timing chain issue. I know that the same engine was in the 2010-2013 Range Rover Sport Supercharged. The timing chain issue was solved for the 2013 RRS Supercharged. I had a 2012 and had my timing chain taken care of under warranty at around 60,000km.

I am hopeful that Jaguar did not use the engine with timing chain issues that came with the 2010-2012 RRS Supercharged.

It has the CCM brakes, big plus and I would guess quite rare on the V8S!
Except for one thing - new pads are hellish expensive and it might be getting close to needing new ones so that is one thing I would check pronto.
And +1 to fitting Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tyres (unless it already has them or Michelin Pilot Super Sport).

It is my understanding the timing chain/ guide issue had been resolved by the end of 2013 on the V8 engines. I was following it closely when I had my 10’ XKR.

Welcome! Enjoy your new car and try to drive it without a smile on your face....I dare yeah

this Forum is awesome and very informative...tip don’t let the few problems people here complain about make it appear your car is falling apart or going to blow up.

Oh and when your tires tires need replacing get the PS4’s. My PZeros have been just fine on the highways and local roads and only today with the lower road temps did I experience some rear “wiggle” which I actually enjoyed and powered right through.

Default Blasphemy

You cannot wait on the PS4 tyres - you have to get them immediately. It’s not a choice - you must conform.

Haha thanks everyone. I just checked and the previous owner did in fact put on a brand new set of PS4s.

In terms of CCMs, if anyone knows any alternatives to the JLR pads that would be great. They don't have to be changed right away but probably soon as the car has ~23k miles.

There is another thread around here somewhere about the CCM brake pads and alternatives to the OEM pads, and from memory no-one ever found a suitable alternative.

I have 4Ss on my V8 S and they are not up to a tuned RWD V8. Get R888Rs or Sport Cups, or you'll be all over the place under throttle with MP4Ss.

Neither a great choice if you occasionally encounter rain. The PS4S is a great rain tire. Consider your local weather when choosing a tire.

consider nothing - PS4S are optimal for all climates and driving styles.

I've put ~750 miles on the PS4s so far and have no complaints. Grip has not been an issue and the ride is smooth

Carbon Ceramics were not available on the 2015 V8S. I suspect your calipers were painted yellow by the previous owner.

Looks like I was incorrect about the above statement.

Nup, have a squiz at post # 1, definitely the CCM brakes.
But funny you should say that my next little project is to paint my (steel brakes) calipers yellow!
