Exactly.

I'm in the minority on the P Zeros. While I'm not sure I'd replace with the same I'm not a hater. I don't notice harshness or noise. I've not driven the car at the limits. I have driven in heavy rain a couple of times and Zeros were great give the cross section.

I'm pretty fussy about tires too. The first thing I do when I get a BMW is to ditch the run flats.

For the love of God and country, when its time to replace, try, just try, the PS4S on your car, I'll be shocked if you don't think they are a huge improvement over P Zeros.

I treat my car pretty well, baby it, but I agree - the rare burn off sure is fun. I discovered how to enjoy a certain kind with the P-Zeros and my RWD R the other day and it really created a huge smile.

Disengage traction control ... head up Taylors Ferry Road at about 20-25mph and then lay into it full throttle in sport mode. I mean wowza! So much fricking fun. Hanging on for dear life like you are riding a very angry bronco.

This is why this is the perfect car for me. Pure excitement and fun. I love watching videos about Supercars like the McClaren and all that they can do speed wise, but what will that do for me except extract my license? Pretty sure 150+mph down an empty night highway is a crap shoot.

No crazy sounds, no drama. The analogy would be enjoying riding a loud Harley or a super crotch rocket. The Harley isn't as fast, but who cares. It is just FUN.

I really do want to go to the Michelins because the RWD R in the wet/cold is really a dangerous ride. It wants to kill me, and it means it.

Charmed life.
You understand what I'm all about! I'm not having fun if I don't have at least a little bit the sense that the car is trying to kill me!

At any rate, I appreciate all of the responses! In all likelihood, I'll either end up with the Continental DWS or something similarly inexpensive, since it doesn't sound like the 4S is really what I want. I'll be the tire experimenter for you all since I'll probably be going through a set once a year anyway.

Such great information!! I was wondering if I should order Pirelli's since my car is in need of some new kicks, and after reading all ya'lls posts, I'm convinced!! I just ordered a set of Michilen Pilot Sport A/S 3+. I was going to wait till spring, but they said, Tires are going up in price... probably said it to make a sale now, I'm sure, but I'm not chancing it!

So grateful for this forum!! Thank you

Biker - you want the P4s tires. At least most here would say that is the tire you should go with ...

As "winter is coming" there in the good ol' US of A I suspect Biker is looking for all-season tyres for at least the next six months, hence the A/S 3+ instead of the PS4S.

On a side note, Spring has been very slow getting here to South Oz and today was the official first day of Spring at my joint.
Why I hear you say?
Coz today was the first day for many months it has been warm enough to dispense with socks & shoes and break out the old thongs!
I think you lot call them flip-flops.

In the UK thongs are very different garments!

Just took my F-Type R in for its first service. Bought it new a year ago this month. Should have checked the oil level before I left the dealership. Instead, waited until I got home. Sure enough, just as others have mentioned in another post, it was over filled.

Anyway, while I was there the service rep told told me my rear tires should be replaced by EOY.

I had Michelin Pilot Super Sports on my BMW. And, I’m going to swap out the zero’s for the new P4’s.

My question is:

Are you all replacing your zero’s with the exact same size tires in the P4’s or otherwise.

Thanks

I replaced with the same size. Others have changed sizes but I think most have directly swapped.

Thanks.

Just want to make sure though that I can increase from the stock on the gerodyne wheels to:

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S 265/35/20 front & 305/30/20 rear

and will not have any issues. My F-type R isn’t lowered but I do have 7mm spacers on all wheels.

I also have a question for those who replace the original Pirelli with PS4 of the same size. Do you put 36 pounds in the PS4? and did it affect the sensors at all?

I replaced with the same sizes (255/35/20 front and 295/30/20 rear), and I find/found 36 PSI to be a little hard riding so I run with 34 PSI instead. I suspected that 34 PSI might be a little under-inflated and result in uneven tyre wear (edges wearing more than centres) but after a year and around 7,000 miles they are wearing very evenly. No TPMS on my car, a good thing IMHO.

Thanks. I have 19s, so it's a bit more forgiving than your 20s, but still I would want to go down to 34 as well, for the same reason you did. As long as my TPMS doesn't throw an error. But I think it takes a lot more than that.

I also plan to replace the Zeros with the same size PS 4S's - 255/35 20's front and 295/30 20's rear. As far as pressures go, I have been running the Zeros at 41 psi trying to get more grip. I'll probably drop the Michelins a couple of pounds to improve the ride.

I was told to go 36psi on my new wheels and tyres (21 inch with Michelins), no problem with TPMS

Personally, I prefer 38psi in the PSS/PS4S, with 19” wheels.

My MY18 V8R AWD is specced at 37psi all round. No mention of tyre brands, just load rating (97Y front, 101Y rear).
