Be nice and tell them to suck a green egg. If they insist, find another insurance company.

Refuse and/or find a different insurance company.
a. You don't want to be monitored, data collected by this device (i.e. acceleration, hard braking) will be used as a pretext to increase your rates.
b. These remote monitoring devices are notoriously insecure, by plugging one in you are effectively connecting your OBD port to the Internet. So any attack that normally requires physical access would be possible to do remotely.
c. F-type power management system doesn't play nice with dongles plugged into OBD port - you will have on-going issues with battery drain.

It's another instance of the ever increasing creep of the nanny state mind set. Yeah, install one and then drive like anything other Tina Fey and see what happens. First they'll raise your rates, then they'll cancel your policy and then you become a pariah in the entire industry, unable to purchase a policy without paying a premium for having excercised the potential of your vehicle.

There have been reports of some OBD devices that do not close the session with the ECU. This results in the battery being drained. I don't think anyone on this forum has used those insurance monitors to know if those are susceptible to the same issue.

If you connect 110V between pin 4 and 16, may be a good boy. In general this, I think, would never be allowed here over,
as it is spying the private life from the car owner. And not in order with data protection laws. At what hours you drive, where you drive, just disgusting.
And in no relation with accidents, as the "tool" cannot distingue between a good and a bad driver.
