Now in Corpus, Paul, for the NY Events? Considering a trip there in 2020, yet the wife "has heard" it's all young party folks. What say yee? I remember it from my days in Texas in the 1970's as an attractive coastal destination, Padre Island comes to mind.

During the Winter, from now until early Spring, in North Padre especially, we have a lot of older couples. Like my wife and I, they come to spend the winter. We have miles of basically virgin beaches.
But from Spring break on, hold on to your hat

@Paul champagne
I have been looking at homes again. Thinking of buying a holiday home. Would go first some times to look around and also rent first.

But - dreaming- about the homes I see, I can not fathom why so many homes are for sale and incredibly cheap.

This one : small bungalow, new roof new appliances. Then, a year later : FOR SALE
[ https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/5...45281109_zpid/ ].

Is it demographic, elderly people moving to sheltered homes ? Or economical : no work.

I find Florida interesting since if we would like to live there eventually, there is no income tax..

I think it's mainly because of the economic uncertainty. This is not the place to discuss these topics, but for those who actually read, research and take in more than a single point of view, the outlook might suggest this is a time for prudence.

But to tie this back in with the car, the big difference, at least for me, is the possibility to drive at a respectable speed limit. In Montreal, you can almost walk as fast as you are permitted to drive. Here in Texas, I do 75 m/h 30 seconds after I'm out of my driveway

At the end of the day, it all comes down to the people. My wife and I fell in love with Texas and it's people more than 25 years ago. And that as never changed.

Damn, that may be south of the state line, but that’s as Alabama as it gets. Pickup trucks with firearms and a confederate flag mounted in the rear window, and right in the middle of hurricane alley. There’s probably a good reason it needed a new roof last year.

Went for a drive as it was unseasonably warm in New York today.

Southern PA and 64 degrees. Drove for over 4 hours top down and was having a blast. Really rung in out on some great backroads. Wonderful way to spend a January day when normally my car is hibernating.

We haven’t done a polar bear run yet this year. Might be time to get together.

I’m in. Willing to come down to your neck of the woods if you know any good spots.

One more from the other day. Drone shot? Nahhh just stood on top of a picnic table. Next time I'll take a real camera and not just a phone, and hope for better lighting conditions.

I think there’s no danger of that, hopefully!

The EPB applies automatically if the ignition is switched off and the vehicle's speed is below 3 km/h (2 mph).
