I love the leaper hood ornament on that sedan (a Mk. II ?) in the photo that Lizzardo posted. I think they were still a feature on the XJ series sedans well into the 1980's.

I agree, looks great on the Mk 2, trouble is people often fit them on more modern Jags - I've seen them on a modern XF - and then it just looks plain wrong in my opinion.

I also agree with the Leaper as fitted to more modern designs. As a retrofit to a design that wasn't made for it, they always seem to poke out too much, like a dolphin riding the wake of a ship. On the Mk 2, it's set back, overlooking the grille with dignity.

How about this? With the hood open, it looks like the leaper is leaning forward to steal a kiss from the growler.

We met at the local community college, DVC. It's quite highly regarded as a feeder to the USC system. We started with a tour of the design and machining labs. I can't remember the proper name of the school, but it was something along the lines of industrial design and engineering.

From there we went to the top of Mt. Diablo where the eating and drinking (I assume the latter in moderation) took place. I wanted the parking lot talking to people and taking what it turns out were largely mediocre pictures.

A coupe of the forum peeps were there:

This one was a beauty. Someone told me that the owner's son had it fully restored for him. It was really nice work.

This is about half of the main lineup. The ability to park in a line with even spacing was not in evidence. Not even a little.

A couple more here. There were reportedly 29 cars, although there were a couple of non-Jaguars. I don't know the story on the Miata, but the Cadillac apparently got conscripted when the owner's Jaguar came up lame (flat tire).

Nice group of Jaguars! Do you know many members are in the Jaguar Associates Group?

I just got my latest roster and by quick estimate I'd say about 175.

Apparently, only three or four over here and mostly ex-military owned who shipped them back.

No mice incursions, so mission accomplished. Just wish the zip bag wasn’t 50% bigger than it needs to be.

A spot of color in an otherwise barren landscape...

Default Let the kitty purr

Went for a little ride through the foothills. Let the kitty stretch her legs a bit. No traffic. All by myself. Awesome!
