Gotta be.
I just checked mine and no go, the hood/bonnet won't quite open far enough for the holes to line up and pins to go through, I would have to disconnect the struts and open the hood a bit further (maybe 10 degrees) before pins would go through.
So maybe it's designed for locking the hood in place while you remove the old struts and fit new ones?
In other words "service position".
Nah, I doubt it, the tiny bit of extra room it would give would not be worth the hassle.
I got some chatter over that post.
Yes, our ex-factory Jaguar tech (now an independent) says that you just disconnect the gas struts and lay them aside. Then, you pin the bonnet through those holes, up to a vertical position, which allows more room for doing stuff like serpentine belts, coolant tubes, and replacement pulleys.
I predict that in a decade or so (when the gas struts lose their 'vigor') this will be a popular thing to do while working under the hood.

Yep, makes sense to get the struts out of the way.
But no way would that lift the hood to a vertical position, all it would do is lift the hood just a little straighter up.
Or maybe your tech knows something more he isn't telling you?

Well, his hair isn't getting thin like mine, so he's not bumping his head.....
We can only speculate: Did he eat his veggies as a youngster?
Took delivery of my 2024 Jaguar F-Type AWD in Carpathian Grey yesterday. Photographs do not do the color justice, it looks so much better in person! Was able to get it $8K under MSRP and delivered to my local Jag dealership and the whole process took close to two weeks. My wife absolutely loves the F-Type too.
It's been a heckuva journey though. I've been driving a old Nissan CUV as a family car since 2013 and have been planning on replacing it for several years; from other ICE CUVs, EVs and then eventually sports cars. Was looking at C8 Corvette for the several months but wanted a sports car with AWD so the F-Type was it!
Right now my F-Type is in a shop to have XPEL Stealth PPF and window tint installed. I'll post photos of it when its done! I do regret not taking more photos of the F-Type in its natural state but didn't have the time.
Met up with with another local F-typer for an enjoyable breakfast, and so our cars could meet each other. Salsa Red V6S, meet BRG V8S. Play nice together...
Both those colors look fantastic on the convertible 😎
