That made me chuckle and I echo those sentiments 100%.

It's all rush, rush, quick, quick shortcut this...I'm all for doing it once, and do it properly ;-) Even if it takes me a couple of attempts, the sentiment is there!

I only put 20% O2 in my tyres, the rest is Nitrogen - I'll get an extraction pump ;-)

You want to be sure to get all the sentiment out of your oil pan.

What does the second service consist of? One dealer is telling me just an oil change.($290) Another is telling me an oil change plus induction cleaning. ($845)

The maintenance schedules are in your 'Passport to Service' manual, which came with the Owner's Manual.

The only additional items for the 2 year/32,000 mile service are:
Record battery code
Replace pollen filter

Induction cleaning? ...I don't have my manual handy but methinks that one is pulling your chain.

That's creative writing for 'lightening of the wallet through the extraction of cash'.

No, this is done as part of the horn fluid flush.

No kidding......what a joke; things like that are what give dealers a bad name.

Nooo... it's real. It involves stuffing a feather duster up the air intake.

They only change the oil once per year or once every 15 or 16k miles, whichever comes first. Especially for the first oil change, that's not as soon or as often as some of us would like.

Hey all. Bought a
oil filter oil filter
on Amazon and went to Wally World and got some https://www.walmart.com/ip/Castrol-EDGE-Extended-Performance-5W-20-Advanced-Full-Synthetic-Motor-Oil-5-QT/34997878 (except i got the 0-20). I took both to the local oil changing joint and they got pretty excited about my car (i get that, it excites me too). After contacting there "central headquarters" they told me it would take an hour and a half to change the oil, but they wouldn't be able to do it because their specs called for replacing the drain plug as well. So much for my being proactive.

So, i decided to do what several here have done and change my own oil. Went on youtube and found
doing a diy change on an F Type. Went back to amazon and ordered a
cool pump cool pump
to evacuate the oil and an
adapter adapter
to get the oil filter out with. All looks pretty straight forward, hoping i have the right filter.

The oil is "extended wear" and has a 15k rating. I will likely never go that long, though i may just need to enter the 21st century? If i go that long, i think i would change the filter out at about 7k and top it off, my understanding is the oil does not loose its lubrosity... still, 15k seems a long time for an oil change, though i have no evidence supporting my fear.

I saw that video. It listed updated specs for Ford oils in case anyone notices that type of stuff.

Are any other DIY'ers using that AC Delco PF659 filter? Its half the cost of the popular Mahle or Mann at RockAuto. I would look at a site such as BobIsTheOilGuy.com to see how it fares in comparison to the others. They may even have a few used filter dissections.

Regards changing the filter early: Once break-in is done, you probably don't have to do that. Many filters are still effective at 20K miles or more. (Old timer's observation: a dirty filter traps MORE dirt than a new filter.

And...can reduce oil flow through the oil galleries (or gallies if you are a real mechanic).

Ah...and some filter housings have a bypass valve in case the filter blinds creating too much back pressure.

Castro Edge Pro is the one that meets JLR's specs, if that matters to you.

There are quite a a few oils that meet the JLR specifications now.

FWIW JLR now use Mobil 1 at services and retailers in the UK.

Just finished changing my oil using the above noted equipment. Whoa, that's the easiest oil change i have ever done, now i'd feel kinda guilty spending the money to have someone else do it. The pump is just shy of awesome and only regret is i didn't change the oil as soon as i bought the car, who knows the last time it was changed? The car is a '14 but only had 9500 miles on it.

I did put the 0-20 in vs 5-20, feeling a little weird about that, it doesn't get that cold where i live.

Also encountered an oddity. I evacuated about 7.25 liters and refilled with about 7.15 liters. After filling, i checked the oil level and it showed as filled. I started the engine and ran it a few and then rechecked it and got the message "oil level not available" am wondering if that is because the oil is not warm? Anyone else encounter this?

Two useful documents...

In addition to instructions for changing the oil, this tells how to switch the oil level to 'live reading' mode...

This describes how to reset the 'Oil Change Needed' service indicator...
