Thanx guys. I'm just not going to think about it ( as hard as that may be). Anyway Ftypegtr, how are you enjoying your R so far?

Mine is on the boat coming over now. I can't wait! The dealer had an R coming in spec'd out very close to how I would have built one so I took the sooner option. I hate waiting

Congrats on your car. How did you spec it out?

Very Nice

I pretty much have the same car coming with the exception of the interior color. I'm getting Jet with red stitch. Also have extended leather pack and Tornado wheels. I would have chosen other wheels if I had built the car but other options were pretty much what I wanted.

Dremorg, I think that you are going to love this car. If you search the posts on this forum, you'll see that I did a write up of my impressions after taking it out on the track about a week after I took delivery. I also posted on the "Why is the F type so heavy" thread.

I've owned many cars from the luxury to performance (as I'm sure most of us have), but I am a track day junkie so I tend to lean towards the performance end of the spectrum when it comes to cars that rank as my favorites ('94 RX-7, '09 GTR). I've also owned M-cars, AMGs, S-Audi's.

For a performance car to use on the street, the Type R is the best car I've owned. It just feels special. Apart from being beautiful, it hits all the right buttons in terms of performance / emotion (sound, handling, power). Jag was very smart in their marketing to have the car mags test it on the track to demonstrate it's capabilities and prove that it is a real performance car, but where it really shines is where 99.9% of it's owners drive it, on the street.

I'm sure I will love it. The 10 minute test drive with the salesman riding shotgun wasn't all that fun. Lol. I'm coming out of an '08' C63 AMG which was tuned & I enjoyed it a great deal. Are you thinking about any modifications or are you satisfied with the R stock?

Other than minor appearance mods (10mm wheel spacers when available), I'll likely keep mine stock.

I went down the tuning route with my GTR, started off with basic ECU tune and midpipe, 3 years later ended up with a fully built motor, trans, suspension, etc etc. It's a slippery slope that I don't feel like sliding down again!!!

Depending on what mods you did to your C63, you'll likely be very satisfied with the power. Seems like 5.0 Jag mods have been limited to ECU+pulley which I'm sure would improve responsiveness but the power gains don't seem that dramatic.

Yeah, I hear you on the mod stuff. My C had about 525 hp & I was pretty satisfied with the power. I'm sure I'll just leave the R stock this time. I love it just the way it is. We have to meet up once mine arrives.

I was told that if I put in a spec order today, it would be 4 months.

It would also not surprise me if this dealer was just trying to push me into a sale on a car that they could get on hand quickly, vs spec and suggested a long time for spec order - either way, that's what I was told.

Finally got my VIN today! Thanks to the website Ungineer provided, I tracked it. It left Liverpool yesterday & was loaded on the vessel. ETA to Baltimore Maryland for 7/20 so I guess I'll receive it a few days after that.

Awesome! Found out today my GM could not get a special allocation so mine will be ordered the 25th. He has 3 people behind me waiting to order.

You'd better go join JCNA now!
