Thanks for the sugg of late models CPO XJ & XJR, but still worried about future maintenance & upkeep costs once it's out of extended warranty. Since I only drive my wife's 2015 E400 V6 twin-turbo about 10% of the time, love the performance myself, but more interested in a safe reliable car for her with a brand new factory warranty for her next car. Otherwise, still has a few good years with current E400, until a great deal comes along...

We have a colour co-ordinated (purely by chance - IRR and Black pack) pair of Jags.

The XFS is a great piece of machinery. Like riding in business class, and quite swift for a twin turbo V6 oil burner.

My daily is a 2013 5.0 L XJL while the F-Type is for fun. About the only thing I've had to do was replace the water pump last fall (a common issue in this engine) other than that, no problems. The ride is fantastic! This is especially true on the HWY!

Trust everyone is doing great. The thread started out with a 1986 XJ-SC but we ended up with a 2014 XJ R that is making gazillion horsepower with enough computing power in 10's and 10's of ECUs networked on high speed CAN buses that can power a shuttle flight to Mars and back.

Not sure how we got here?

Why not get back to the XJ-SC which is a lovely design that is a cross between a convertible and coupe excluding the flying buttresses. Probably one that looked like this below;

Update.
Last month we traded in our beloved Merc E400 for brand new 2019 Jaguar XJ R-Sport.
Got awesome prices for new Jaguar & good trade-in price.

Nice! Congrats to the wife, I love the XJs. They're so nice to drive. However, we cannot have 3 Jags so might not ever get to have one. As I mentioned above, we where looking at trading in her F Pace and we did end up swapping it for a '20 SVR. Also, I have that exact same refrigerator in my garage!

LOL, your garage refrigerators are the same as my house refrigerator.
You guys must have really nice kitchens.

I had a 2004 XJ8 for 12 years was a great car only drove it April thru November though. Just sold her we loved that car. The quality of the materials on that car I personally
was better then my F Type. Sound system in that car was also far superior to the high end meridian system. Handling and acceleration was way better then my BMW 740I.

Over all 1000% better the my 740 which sticker-ed 20k above my XJ8.

LOL, I made the mistake of giving the wife free reign on designing her kitchen when we bought the house last year. The one in the garage came with the house originally. You ever heard of La Cornue ranges? Yeah, me neither. But I wish I had known!

I can’t pronounce it, let alone heard of it
As they say “happy wife, happy life” but they should add a warning “could also be hazardous to your bank account”.

Wow. 2004XJ8 's car design is absolutely beautiful. Think it's the best-looking sedan of all time.

Now that we had a month & 1000 miles on her, I'm quite impressed with our '19 XJ.
First, the purchased price was awesome, got $30K off the $82K sticker. Dealer gave us about $3K more than others for our trade-in.
Ride is awesome. With wife in car, Smooth & comfy. Without her, in Sport & Dynamic mode, the Supercharged V6 is quite Spirited & drives pretty well for such as large sedan.
The base 800 watt 20 speakers Meridian sound system is awesome, the best sounding system ever.
The cooled & massage driver & passenger seats are awesome.
Although we don't like having "easy monthly payments" again, but having a brand new 5 yr warranty & 5 yrs' maintenance is great.
So far, so good....

I've owned several Corvettes, & that's the only model I'll ever buy from GM.
This F-type is my first & only model from Jaguar. Love it so far. But Jaguar & Land Rover are the 2 lowest ranked JD Powers survey of initial quality this past year.
My wife is looking to replace her Mercedes mid-size twin-turbo V6 E400 sedan, maybe with another E class, or BMW 5 series, or Audi A6, or even maybe Jaguar XF mid-size sedan.
Any recommendations or comments, pros & cons, on other Jaguar sedans...?
Thanks,
My wife drives a 2018 XE Sport AWD V6 and loves it and has no real issues at all.. Also have a 2018 RR Velar R-Dynamic great vehicle as well, had a little software issue with the operating system on the RR but after the update it's been fine..

My wife has a 2017 XE... actually that's how I ended up with a 2018 F-Type. If we went to the merc/bmw/audi dealer first, it may have been a different story for me, as I didn't consider the F-type until we went to the Jag dealer to test drive the XE.

Now that my wife also owns another Jag, she says that she will to join me at the Jaguar Castle Bromwich factory tour when we're in London & Birmingham UK later this Nov.
Hope travel plans will hold up & factory is up & running again by then...
