P300 Exhaust / Fuse
Hello, everyone,
in my attempt to tickle a little more sound from the P300 BJ 2021 I tried the following today:
According to forum posts, removing the fuse for the active exhaust system has seen some people improve the sound. As far as I know, the flap only opens in a certain speed range or is not fully open at all times. By pulling the fuse, the flap should therefore be completely open permanently.
There was a noticeable pithier sound in the low speed range. During normal driving, that means up to 2,000 rpm, which is a clear difference to the series with the flap-open button. The "Pops & Bangs" were more frequented, but unfortunately a bit quieter.
The problem: the car drove noticeably with less power and lasted castrated. In addition, of course, the taste for the flap no longer works. There was no error message. The artificial "sound generator" in the interior therefore no longer works.
I would like to be informed about the functionality of the flap and the difference to the "standard" system without the flap button.
I would be happy to talk to you about how you can give the P300 more sound.

I tired the fuse thing with my 300. The car goes into some sort of limp mode with a fuse removed.
Noticed the car of mine is different. Earlier cars had a fuse panel on the passenger floor. Mine does not.;
I asked the dealer to install the switch on the console and reprogram the computer. They claimed they could not do it.
If that changes I would gladly pay the ransom. for now, in s mode It is as noisy as you can get. Actually enough likely. Time to pretend to be an adult I guess..

There seems to be a lot of variation between model years, certainly as far as the V6 and V8 variants. In my MY18 in "normal" mode the valves open around 3,500 rpm. With the active exhaust switch on the valves open around 1,500 rpm. In dynamic mode the valves are open all the time (from tickover) unless I turn off the active exhaust switch. Not sure why you think the valves aren't either closed or fully open. I have no knowledge of the exhaust behaviour of the P300 so maybe Jaguar has changed the programming for that model.
