Panoramic Roof Sunscreen Question
Yesterday I attempted to slide the sunscreen back to enjoy the clear blue sky and it would not retract. I was traveling approx. 70 MPH (maybe a tad faster
. After I slowed down to 45ish it opened with no problem; so I tried the same sequence again and got the same result--would not open at speed but opened fine once slowed down.
I looked in the owner's manual and could find nothing on a lockout feature and it opens with no hitches sitting in the garage.
Has anyone had any similar experience?

Seriously I don't use mine very often either. Can't remember the last time.
Getting back to the science,
The rush of air going over the roof would, at your (Slightly)high(er) speeds,
result in pressure from the air in the cockpit, pressing the window into its guides. This would cause it to bind.
So it's not JUST the sun, confirming that this effect is just as likely to happen in the UK as SC.
Thank You, Mr Wizard.

I noticed mine would be tough to open after sitting in the sun for a few hours, but I didn’t call bill nye the science guy - just took it to the dealer and They lubricated the tracks - works perfectly now at any speed and temperature.

I generally always leave mine open, but one day I was in the office and the car was parked in the sun, I noticed it was very difficult to move so I also left it a few inches open for a few days as a workaround. Based on my experience, it wont self-correct. After the dealer worked on it, it was super smooth.

Did you have your foot on the dead pedal when you were going 70, and not on there while going 45mph? That could have something to do with the shade binding Sorry, I couldn't resist. My shade progressively got worse. In my opinion it was not a lubrication issue. The whole headliner has to come out to fix it, I should say replace it. See the link. I did get mine replaced under warranty. I then tinted the roof with 20% ceramic tint and decided to leave the shade open for eternity. I prefer my headliner not come out of the car for a third time if the shade should fail down the road. Good luck and report anything you find please. Very few forum members reported this issue when it happened to me. A step by step would be great on the headliner removal. I get the passenger side window coming out for the headliner removal, but I couldn't figure out how and why there are magnets at the apex of the liner near the weather stripping and how they unattach.

Mine just started sticking this year after being parked. The car has been outside this year vs. previous years (not in winter). Could be thermally related? Currently at dealer getting replaced just under the deadline for warranty expiration. Service manager initially told me wasn't worth the cost to fix until I pointed out was still under warranty. May likely be a known issue. I'll see if I can get more info as to problem. Car will be returned tomorrow.
Mine is closed most of the time (parked outside, so blocking sunlight) but I usually open it when I drive. The right side sometimes binds initially, but once open about 25% it's OK. It only binds on the right, in that first quarter of the opening, and it does seem related to heat.

Car was returned today with new sunscreen assembly. Was told it would have been$1700 out of warranty. Service manager could not tell me what exactly was causing it to stick.though. Since iI didn't have the problem in previous years, I expect it could be thermal related but not sure.
YES! And not only did I do more damage to mine than you did fujicoupe as i was foolish enough to have the windows open. And truth be told. I don't think it should be extended at any speed if your windows are down. The Wind was the final factor that caused my catastrophic failure. I'm very angry with myself at this time. ......
