Default Parking brake issue removing calipers

So I did a dumb thing. In the process of changing rotors and pads in back. I removed the caliper bolts and released the parking brake to get the calipers off. Got them both off and hung up and was just going to throw the new rotors on and fit the calipers back while the ignition was on, but left my wrench in the passenger seat, went in to grab it and without thinking hit the start button to turn the power off when I got out😔 Parking brake engages until both brake pistons are fully extended and the pads are pushed together. Releasing the e brake does not retract the pistons. What do I do?

Thanks!

Towards the end of this document, it describes how to put the EPB in maintenance mode. Hopefully, that helps?

That's very helpful actually, thanks. I think it's too late for maintenance mode but knowing I can pull the actuators off and retract the pistons from the back is great if it comes to that.

Yep, pretty sure you will need to pull the actuators (motors) off the backs of the calipers.
From memory they are each held on with two torx bolts, guessing T25.
