Side mirror as only the passenger side mirror points downward, and can be adjusted by the driver. I suspect, but don't know for sure, that it's standard across the board?

Thanks. Yes, you are quite right. Passenger side only.

It's a menu option, 'auto dip' I think it's called.

And I don't believe it's offered on the base coupe...I wish it was because both mirrors dip on our Lexus and it really helps backing up.

Unclear - this is one of those features that's poorly documented in the manual. The section that describes it in my manual (under 'mirrors') doesn't say that it isn't available on all models. But it says to refer to the 'Instrument Panel' section, and the menu options specifically. Of course, there's no reference to it there.

Maybe it's only available with the visibility pack?

I don't have that. Think I stumbled on this feature when I went through the menu to see what was in there.

I use the auto dip feature. Very useful and use my mirrors. Take my time, park it swish.

Is there a switch to toggle auto dip or do you have to go through the menu? I find it useful for parallel parking but not for regular Parking.

You have to go through the menu.

I like the auto dip but I also wish it had a quicker toggle as there are times when I need to back up and see what is behind me on the right hand side.

I would take that button on the steering wheel vs the useless "set max speed" button.

If you exceed 7.5MPH in reverse, auto-dip is cancelled. So, the answer is to back up faster.

BTW, you can adjust the position while it's dipped, and that's the position it will use next time it dips.

I'm not sure whether the auto-dipped position is stored in the three memory settings for the seat, I know the baseline mirror position is. Is it is, you could set an undipped position in one of the memories and use that when needed. Just a thought.

I have an F-Type Base without Vis Pack and was advised by dealer (after some investigation) that mirror dip feature is not included. I searched every menu and confirmed their answer.

I really wanted the Vis Pack, but wasn't interested in the Prem Pack that I had to buy as a prereq. Basically would have been $7k for both on an already stretch budget of $78k.

To be honest, I'm downright scared of parallel parking this thing. I still struggle with the appropriate distance to pull up when parking in a normal spot, as well as horizontal positioning. Low visibility in this car is just not existent and I'm scared to scratch my 20" wheels!

Oh, my First World problems!!

I assume from your account that you have a coupe. The visibility in my base convertible doesn't present any real issues. You can "manual-dip" the passenger-side mirror yourself, and I've found that useful on occasion to avoid curbing a wheel.

On the other hand, I do try to avoid parallel parking, not because I find it all that difficult, but because I don't want others "kissing" my car on either side. Too many feel that it's perfectly acceptable to lightly tap the cars on either side to ease into and out of a spot.

I too have a heck of a time centering the car in angled parking spaces, etc. I suspect it would help if I raised the seat, but I like being low in the car.

Having owned a dozen or so low-to-the-ground roadsters, and sports cars, that's always an issue, and there isn't a "vision pack" available yet to assist with centering between the parking lines.

Set one of the seat memories to the highest setting and paint a P on the button.

LOL . . . some of us don't have seat memory on our stripped-down models. Simple is good.

I'm with you exactly on that...I've had to raise the seat just a hair to see around me just a bit better but I'm failing miserably on parking because I'm erring too much on the side of caution.

I'm manually dipping my pass mirror when parking and cursing Jaguar under my breath,lol...
