Partnumbers window seals coupe
Hi,
I have a question that I wondered if anyone here could help me with.
My MY2015 F-type R coupe has gotten some vertical scratches on both side windows, and there is a bulletin JTB00502 "Vertical Scratches on door Windows" that covers this issue.
I delivered the car to the Norwegian dealer yesterday morning and parts (new seals and windows) were allready at the dealer. However when the seals were to be replaced it turned out that they had gotten the seals for the convertible, which supposedly does not fit the coupe.
When they tried to find out what had caused the delivery of wrong seals, they discovered that the partnumbers they had used (found on the bulletin document) was wrong, so they need to order the correct ones. However they struggle to find the correct partnumbers for the seals for the coupe.
They are "on the chase", but to speed it up I thought I might pop the question here.
Partnumbers for both the window seals on a 2015 R Coupe (and not vert) anyone?

Thanks Graham
Edit: unfortunately those partlists have the same "errors" as the one that caused the trouble. If you look at them it's the same partnumbers for both the coupe and the vert (T2R4075 and T2R4074 - left and right).
And they should not be, as the part for the vert does not fit the coupe.
The earlier (before they made the change due to the scratching problem) partnumbers were different between coupe and vert, but they have probabely made an error in the partslist when they did the change.
So back to start - but thanks for the effort!

The current EPC update has the coupe waist seals as T2R16491 (LH) and T2R16490 (RH), which are the same as the convertible parts. If they are not compatible then your dealer will need to raise a call with support to track them down and get an EPC update issued - when they do please post back with the correct parts.
JTB00502 calls for the seal to be replaced by removing it from the waist finisher, and replacing with those supplied in the service parts T2R24144 (LH) and T2R24143 (RH). Looking at the causal part T2R1672, there does not appear to be an equivalent part listed for the coupe, so it may be that they share the same part. Did your dealer verify they did not fit or just dismiss them based on the part description?

My understanding (which may be incorrect) is that the T2R16491 (LH) and T2R16490 (RH) was the "old" convertible parts, and they have been replaced with the T2R4075 and T2R4074 (which is according to the EPC I have seen here (US?), and from the dealer (Europe))
The only partnumber I can find on the EPC for the coupe is the T2R4075 and T2R4074. However I do not have access to the EPC (only the pics I have received), so I can not "dig" further down in the system.
My understanding of what the dealer said was that they did not fit, and therefor they "investigated" it further, and found possible errors in the EPC.
They have forwarded it to the Danish importer (the importer for the Nordic market) to clarify.
As soon as I know more I will post back on it.

The little circular arrow after the part number in the EPC screenshots above indicates that the part has been superseded and is no longer available. In the case of T2R4075 it has been replaced with T2R16491, and T2R4074 with T2R16490. The supersession might be due to an engineering change to resolve the grit trapping issue, or it may just be because they have changed suppliers.
The David Manners web site is useful for checking supercession. David Manners Ltd - Part search Jaguar Parts, Daimler Parts, Classic Jaguar Spares. Simply put in any part number and it will tell you if it has been replaced (click on the "view" link in the search results to view the "supplied part" number).
That aside, the EPC has many errors (and many missing parts, although with more recent models it is getting more accurate). Your dealer can phone through to JLR support in the UK and they will get the engineering part number needed and then provide the order part numer. If it does not currently have one it will be assigned a new number which can delay actually getting hold of one by a few days, but mostly you should get the correct part through within 2 days if unallocated stock is available.

Thanks xdave. Then it's the other way arround from what I had understood - even though the "problem" is still the same.
The dealer has raised the cause with the Nordic JLR importer in Denmark, so I assume it will be solved rather quickly.
It is not a big problem if this takes some time, as I have picked the car up from the dealer awaiting new parts to arrive. The reason for posting it here was if anyone knew what the correct partnumbers were (and maybe knew of the error/problem) - as a "qucik fix".
I will come back when I know what the problem/fix is.

Great info here, and thanks for the parts search link.
I would like to get the superseded parts installed on our FTR. I'm careful to brush the existing seals out so that nothing gets trapped, however I guess it is inevitable that it will trap grit further down the line.
Do you think it would be possible and/or fair to get a dealer to install the new waste seals, even if there isn't any scratching yet?

Interestingly, I answered the last point by ringing Jaguar Customer Relations here in the UK...
They won't install the new, improved waste seals on a car (which in my opinion would be a good preventative measure) until scratches appear!
Then and only then, will new glass and seals be fitted...now that's logic for ya!

I must give my dealer credit for finding a fault I had not found. When I delivered the car to them it was to get this fix, and I asked them to change both seals + the right side window as it clearly had a vertical scratch. Left side window ok (so I thought). But on close inspection the dealer found scratches on the left side window as well. So both windows will be replaced together with the seals as soon as (the correct) parts are received.
New (and verfified correct) seals received today. I do not know what the part nr is though.
They and new windows will be installed early September when the mechanic that I trust and who knows my car the best, is back from his holiday starting today. Center vent will be fixed at the same time (will not drop down without manually pushing it down).
Except from these minor issues, I could not be more satiesfied with the car, and also with the service provided by the dealer. I am also very happy that I now have met and spoken with the mechanic that has and will be working on my car. He shares my passion for the F-type and would be proud to help me keep it in prestine condition for the years to come. He also said that in his mind my car was the best looking and equipped F-type that existed in Norway, and I really think he ment it

I have been looking through Topix to see if there is a procedure to replace the Waist Seals, but cannot find any information on the seals.
I wonder if anyone can shed any light as to how big a job it is to replace just the seals?
Also, are T2R16491 and T2R16490 the correct numbers for the NEW seals for a convertible ?(I don't have access to the EPC).
The reason I ask, is Jaguar have been kind enough to replace my seals 'as a goodwill gesture' even though I haven't got any scratches...yet!

I can't help with the part numbers. However replacing the seals is an easy job, it won't take more than 5 minutes per side.
1) Remove the door card
2) Remove the seal's captive screw which is behind the plastic window glass surround trim at the rear
3) Lift off the old one and install the new one in reverse.
Incidentally, the proceedure is identical on all current Jaguar models.
WSM instruction 76.31.01 contains the steps on TOPIx.
If you were to replace the glass as well it requires the regulator mechanism to be lowered and the glass lifted off, which takes about 20 more minute on an X351 which looks an identical process to the F Type in the WSM. It's a PITA if you don't have a window removal bar, but you can do it with a metal ruler to release the clips.

Got the car back today after both seals and side windows replaced, and also the center vent fixed. The mechanic has done a great job, and everything looks just as good as new.
Alignment is perfect, not a scratch or mark anywhere, windows seems to open/close with ease, and even the center vent moves smooth and not "jerky" as it did before.
The car was also as clean and tidy inside and out, as it was when I delivered it.
It was parked at their large handicap parking space so there were lots of space to all other cars.
I was also told by the other persons in the workshop that the mechanic that did the work (unfortunately he had left when I picked up the car) had told everyone to stay away from the car til it was picked up (no touching, test-sitting, door opening etc).
I (and/or the car) felt very well taken care of, and the service has just been brilliant.
And I did not even buy the car from them....
I will drop of a bottle of wine to the mechanic one of the coming days
