Passenger Door handle can’t make up its mind
Hi All:
in need of some advice/ wisdom
when I get in my MY17 the passenger door handle opens and closed four or five times.
sometimes it will pop out to the open position and other times it will pull back to the retracted / closed position.
Has anyone experienced this?
Does anyone have any suggestions to a solution?
This has only been happening for a few months but it seems to be getting worse.

Perhaps reach out to Jag Bass and ask him what his resolution was, as he didn’t update the thread…

There’s something to be said for simple old school door handles. Everything is so darn complicated now.
I just searched for some YouTube videos on the topic and found enough examples to figure it out. You have to remove the door panel, yes, but it's not complicated. The hardest part was getting one particular guide ferrule on the cable of the assembly to get seated into its intended bracket. That was just awkward and required some patience. Everything else was straightforward.
The shame of it is that the problem was inside a sealed latch assembly and was probably something that could have been fixed rather than replaced. If I had wanted a project, I might have tried to get the assembly opened and figured out a fix. Instead, I just wanted to use my car so I bought a part (which includes the latch, cable, etc.) and tossed the faulty part. BTW, I would avoid a used part in this case because the failure isn't readily visible or apparent.
