Planning a V6S purchase, some final decisions to make
I changed it as I preferred the sport steering wheel instead of the normal version. The normal comes with suede cloth.
I assumed that if I got the Suedecloth Pack on the V6S I'd get the flat bottom steering wheel in Suedecloth. The order guide doesn't really indicate which, but since there is only one Suedecloth steering wheel option, one could assume it is the round one. It does note that the Suedecloth wheel isn't heated, which is also unfortunate. Given all that I may be going the same route.
What part are you having issues with on the performance seats, the side bolstering?
I think I'll need to go back to sit in both seats again back to back to test.
When you say the "normal" version, are you referring to the round steering wheel? In the S and R the normal steering wheel is the flat bottom one.

Isn't the seat profile the same for the performance and sports seats? When I looked at them they seemed to have the same rough profile, it was mainly the way the top was shaped with the racing harness gaps in the top vs the more solid profile of the sports seats.

I think the seat pans of both are equally comfortable. It also seems to me that the standard seats give the driver better look back visibility to scan the blind spot on the driver's side.

So, according to the local dealers I've spoken to, the lead time on a newly ordered F-Type S is 6+ months right now. Given that I've decided to look for a dealer stock car instead. I haven't really had much luck finding a V6S in stock with the options I'm looking for (Super Performance Brake Pack and Premium+Vision Pack at the minimum) on an AWD Convertible. So, I've extended my search to F-Type R models.
The R is a bit above my comfort level but I found a couple local dealers with 2016 models in stock in a color combo that am good with that seem willing to work with me and get me close to invoice. None of them have the suedecloth unfortunately, but is white on the full red interior pack, and the other is white on the dutone red interior. I'll be taking a look at both this weekend and doing another test drive (I've only driven the V6S previously.) We'll see where it goes from there.

I sure hope your dealer was blowing smoke on the lead time for an ordered car; he has an incentive to do so to sell an inventory car. I ordered a car just this week and was told to expect delivery in September, not November. Mine is a Base not an S, but I assume they're running down the same assembly line. I was told that he would get a "hand over" date the from the factory in a week or so. When I get it I'll update the thread. I hope my guy is right. If yours is right, you'll hear the sound of fingernails screeching on an old chalkboard from here.
Hey folks,
I've been shopping around for a new roadster for a while, and was in an extended comparison/debate between the Boxster GTS and F-Type V6S Convertible. I'm looking to pull the trigger on a custom order in the next couple of weeks, and based on everything I think I'm going with the F-Type.
For the most part I already know what options I want, but there are a few choices I'm still not completely sure on, and I was hoping to solicit some feedback from those on here who may have more familiarity with my choices.
1. RWD vs AWD. I suspect this is going to be a loaded question. From what I've read, many don't like the additional weight of the AWD. Others say that the AWD is useful on the V8R to compensate for the additional power, but not on the V6. Others suggest that AWD (and Torque Vectoring for that matter) are only
beneficial for the track (or inclement weather like ice and snow.) I know that a number of very nice sports cars have AWD (R8, GT-R, and 911 Turbo for example), and in others it is really only a safety/poor weather feature (BMW xdrive.) But I don't know if it really will contribute anything to every day driving or general performance given its a part time system, and RWD most of the time anyway. I'm in the San Francisco area so I don't need to worry about weather issues. I also plan to get the Super Performance Braking Pack with Torque
Vectoring if that matters.
2. Suedecloth Pack. I really like the way this looks, but I have yet to find a vehicle (outside of the configurator anyway) with this. I've sat in a number of Jaguars with the Suedecloth inserts but none of the dealer vehicles in the area seem to come with the full Suedecloth Pack configuration. I am a huge fan of the Alcantara in the Porsche lineup (especially the GTS appearance pack in the
Boxster/Cayman) and I'm looking for something similar. Do any of you have the Suedecloth Pack in your vehicles? What do you think, especially as compared to the all-leather options. (If I don't go with the Suede, I will probably do the full-Redzone leather interior.)
3. The seats. I have briefly sat in a few Jaguar vehicles with both the Sports seats and Performance seats. I personally like the appearance of the
performance seats much more, but the car I test drove had the Sports seats and seemed fine to me. I wasn't able to discern much of a difference in seating fit and feel in my limited exposure, but I'm curious if there is a difference aside from the look. Have any of you seen any significant difference between the two beyond appearance?
4. Wheels. I did some quick searches of online sites for aftermarket wheels and was fairly surprised to see that there really wasn't a huge amount of online
support for the F-Type. Unlike the Porsche which has much more support. I had a hard time finding any references to the wheel fitment specs for the F-Type in fact. If aftermarket wheels are going to be hard to find, I will need to spend more time choosing a good Jaguar supplied wheel.
5. Carbon Fiber Pack. Anyone get this? I'm curious on pricing, since it isn't listed in the configurator and I don't see a bundle price online on any of the dealership
parts pages.
The last question is more specific to the San Francisco Bay Area, though may be of interest to others...
6. I want to find the best place to order my vehicle. Ideally I'd like to find a local dealership, though I am not opposed to ordering elsewhere and having it
courtesy delivered here. I live on the peninsula, fairly close to San Francisco proper, though I've heard that the SF Jaguar dealership isn't very price competitive. Since I'm ordering a custom 2016 MY, I'd welcome opinions/recommendations on who to work with to get the best discount and/or after sale support. I like the folks in Marin, though they are a smaller dealership and may have less negotiating power (and smaller allocations.) San Jose seems the largest, but its quite a hike. At the end of the day I'll likely shop around to
multiple dealerships, but I'm curious as to others experiences. From forum posts I see some people are getting 10-20% off on dealer stock, especially on the 2014's and 2015's, and I'm hoping to at least get enough of a discount to cover local taxes (which are 9% plus local fees) though I suspect that may be challenging on a custom ordered 2016.
I appreciate any assistance you can offer. Also, I have a PDF copy of the 2016 Order Guide if anyone is interested in that.
Thanks!

I heard there isn't a discount for JCNA anymore... can anyone confirm that?
I'd be happy to, but I've looked at the SJ website and they don't have any vehicles in dealer stock that I'm interested in right now. I'm currently chatting with a couple other dealerships that have cars that are pretty close to my desired configuration, and I'm aiming to get $5,500 off sticker. I was aiming for $8k off (7%), but that doesn't seem to be flying at the moment.
She was awesome. Happy to make an introduction if you would like. I think the perf seats are great love the color stitch. 20 inch rims lunar grey w/ black pack. Alysha has been there a long and knows the car well and if you are a good negotiator I think you could make a better deal now than I could. Good luck!!!
JCNA is offering discounts on new '14 and '15 models through 3/31/16. Nothing yet being offered on '16 models. In the past, discounts for the new model year have shown up in mid-July.

Hi Merlin. I ordered everything for my V6S Coupe. I worked with a very nice informative gal name Alysha at the San Jose store. I got 2k off sticker in Oct 2014 plus 2500 for joining JCNA. Well, I'm heading out to Cole European in about an hour to test drive the 2016 F-Type R convertible they have set aside for me. If I like the car and can get it at the price range I'm asking for, I plan to drive it home today. If not, British Motors has a similarly configured vehicle, though I suspect they may be less willing to negotiate on price.
Worst case, I'll be back to ordering a vehicle, or just pull the trigger on the Boxster GTS at the Redwood City dealership that I've had my eye on.
