Default Possible to activate phone voice command?

I have a simple question, but it's a pretty important one since I'm deciding what phone I get based on this. I have Verizon by the way.

On my pioneer stereo on my prev car, pushing the handset button activated Siri on my phone. But the Handset button on the F-Type steering wheel is only like a redial button.

I'm looking for any smartphone which will let me setup the handset button on the steering wheel to activate the voice commands. Anyone done this before?

Thanks

Easiest way to employ voice activation is by using the justdrive app.

If you have inControl functionality on your car, you should. Be able to download JustDrive off the AppStore

I don't think you can do this with a 2015 without incontrol. But I just make sure my iPhone is within reach and paired with the car. You don't even need to look you dust hold down the home button on the phone and then Siri is activated and will pick up your voice through the car system and answer through the car system.

I thought the '15s had inControl. They just don't have inControl Remote.

Not sure. Unless your touch screen has the inControl button (scroll all the way to the left) you don't have inControl capability:

What does JLR have against us poor Android users? Ahh...Google/Android are insignificant players in the smartphones! Well...maybe that's not quite correct.

If you have an iPhone 6, you can activate 'Hey Siri' on your phone. Then, as long as the phone is plugged into a USB power source, you can use 'Hey Siri', voice activation for whatever you can normally do on your phone.

In Control was an option for 2015, and one many felt not worth the extra expense if they dug down (or read these forums) and assessed the limited functionality.

I was told the 2015 InControl would be forward compatible and to expect a lot more apps to become available. Sadly, the release of the 2016 a few months later rendered the original InControl module an abandoned and obsolete relic.
