Default Puddle lights, am I missing something?

My apologies in advance if I'm missing something obvious. So I received my puddle lights yesterday and went out to the garage to install them which should be a simple task. After fiddling around with the current set up for a few minutes, I could not figure out how to integrate the old with the new. Does the bulb portion separate from the black plug section which will then expose a two prong (male) connector that will insert in to the new light? I tried to gently separate the bulb with no luck but I didn't want to over do it with fear of breaking anything. Secondly, did they send me the correct new lamps (pictured) for a 2023 F-Type? I do realize that the factory plastic housing will be replaced with the new one and it's just understanding how to connect the wiring to it. Thanks!

You are correct. Unplug bulb holder and plug into new housing. Bulb/bulb holder/old housing now can be stored in a box in the garage for eternity....

Appreciate the response wetwolf but I'm not sure where it disconnects from the bulb housing. I'm guessing the square smaller section that is at the end of the wires? I will be more aggressive and separate it with a pair of pliers.

correct. There should be a snap you have to depress to remove. I just do not remember where.

Success and they work great! Separating the bulb portion from the wiring harness was a pain and required a lot of trial and error especially laying on my back!

I have had two sets and neither lasted very long before the image degraded to the point it was not recognizable as a Jaguar.
Please follow up in a year or so as to how yours hold up.

Will do Sarah and if I have to replace them every few years it will now be a simple swap seeing that the old bulb is history.

I just threw on another set this morning as my old ones were no longer recognizable and probably that way for a year or more. I will have to see how long these last as well but Amazon and $16 you cannot expect much.

I completely agree about not expecting much for the price and I would happily pay more for ones that lasted as long as, say, the ones that come standard on other model vehicles. As for the installation of them, I did not find that difficult at all; it took a few minutes as I recall.

So, if you install these puddle lamps:

They need to be replaced every other oil change?

After a couple of different sets that faded over time I put in some super strong white LEDs which have lasted for years now. Looks like the printed graphics on the lens melt/fade over time from the heat. I think I saw somewhere the other year that there now are some more expensive sets that last longer though.

For those with bit of OCD like myself, one of the lights posted above have the wrong font, which Jaguar discontinued around 2013.

I struggled trying to figure out how to separate the bulb portion from the wiring section while on my back in a dimly lit garage. To be honest, I am still not sure how I finally got them apart and am guessing there was some small tab and I got lucky and squeezed it with the plyers!
