I'm an older member but I just bought a 2016 f type and had a velocity crank pulley installed with a nice tune attached.
Is it normal for the belt to lightly whistle maybe even howl, and slightly squeak until the car warms up? In which it does absolutely go away. This install is 2 days old. It's not terrifying, but it absolutely was not there before. New tight belt or something?
If it does it under full throttle acceleration only its probably slipping. VAP might have sent you a belt that was too long. Has happened quite a few times.
Another thing it might be is the belt isn't on one of the pulleys all the way. It is really easy to do if you are not careful during installation. If that is what it is it will eventually cause the belt to fail.
Well that's a bit terrifying.. the car was warm when the belt got installed. No squeaks or whistle and the tuner revved it pretty hard. Drove it 3 hours back home from boston. Nothing then either. Then the next morning I got the low pitched howling whistle. Driving the car makes it go away faster. I suppose I have investigating to do
Once its warm, it wont make a sound at idle. Then you hear a slight whistle as you ease up through the rpm's and on the way back down. Once you get past a certain point the engine noise takes over and it's either gone or over powered. I'm not getting any belt slippage that I can feel.
I wish this forum will let me upload a video from my phone. It says that mp4 format isn't excepted or something

Upload the video to YouTube and then post the link to the forum.
I had your exact issue as well. If you are still running a two sided belt, a Gates DK080568 belt will resolve your issue.
Easily done.. thanks man..
so this is me pulling into my complex after the car has been driving around half the day. If I go any faster the engine either get too loud and I cant hear it or it just goes away at higher rpm's
Ok gentlemen.. the belt popped off my supercharger pulley as I tried to make a hard hit at 40.
Which means it's fairly certain it was caused by one or both of two things already mentioned here - the belt was too long or it wan't fitted fully/correctly on at least one of the pulleys or guides. I reckon belt too long is the prime suspect.

The other possibility is that it is a pulley with the wrong face offset for that MY.
Ok so the belt yanked the supercharger pulley forward into the intake as well and obviously damaged the intake as well because it spun into it
BTW, you need to create a signature with your exact model and mods listed so we don’t have to keep guessing about things.
Is the SC pulley OEM or a reduction pulley? Did you convert the SC belt to a single sided belt when you installed the oversized crank pulley?
I'm sorry for leaving those things out. It's a oem supercharger pulley. With the velocity double sided belt and black lower pulley. I ordered the belt and pulley through Vivid racing and had to work with the rep to ensure I was getting the proper pulley and belt for my model. I even tried talking to velocity about it as well, at the same time. I was told to convey with my dealer. So I gave vivid the model year vin etc. They sent the info to velocity and got the confirmation from velocity that the proper pulley was being shipped. The pulley went on great no issues no vibrations etc, until the low whistle a day later and then boom last night. I put maybe 250 miles on the car with the pulley setup.
Now late last night I finally got velocity talking to me and they said my gray oem pulley should have gotten a gray velocity pulley to replace it. I was sent a black one for sure.
As of right now my car is sitting at the dealership in the back lot. Jaguar isnt aware it's there yet being so early typing this. I'm scared shitless and this could possibly have cause lord knows what damage to the snout. I had no idea the pulley colors have different off sets. I'm not even sure how I was suppose to know which color was OEM on my car.I wasnt aware it was wrong. I'm gutted.

Here is a pic of the top pulley pushed into the intake piping. That has to be out of place and the snout has to be damaged correct?
I dont even know what to say to the dealer. I need to let them asses the damage. Eurocharged Boston installed my crank pulley but they're 3 hours away.
Perhaps just the bearing failed on the supercharger pulley due to too tight conditions from wrong lower pulley. I think VAP will help sort it out, but my thought is your grievance is with Vivid. The place that did the install just did as you asked based on what Vivid provided from VAP. I wouldn't have the dealer try to sort it out. They will charge you a gazillion dollars and want to put it back stock. Unless their cool, then just a gazillion dollars. It might not be that catastrophic.
I here ya.. I just have no one around whose willing to touch my car, other than the dealer. Unless I have the car shipped 3 hours to boston. Both pulleys will need to be done and possibly the snout. I'm really hoping velocity can get me on the right path here. Kinda makes me wish I had done the upper pulley and tune instead. I'm terrified of what this is gonna cost me either way.. idk which is the best path here.
I don't know of any f-type that has a red super charger pulley... are we sure that's not an aftermarket piece?
That's a good point. Maybe someone prior had put an aftermarket pulley on the supercharger? As a cool boy option rather than a performance mod? The added stress finally caused it to fail.
I'm questioning that too.. I bought the car with it on there otherwise. From jlr Glencove. Went through their supposed 160+ inspection and had the 2 year certified pre owned warranty with it. Still intact etc...

What's more concerning; I don't know of any aftermarket pulley that's red either. Which would lead me to believe its not from a reputable company like VAP, Eurocharged, etc. I'm sure that VAP will get you straightened out on the lower pulley set-up, but I question that upper pulley and wonder if that's the source of the failure.
