Default Quick exit interview after 6 years of ownership - F Type R

hi guys

thought i'd give my final thoughts after 6+ years of ownership of my F-Type R

i originally ordered new and delivered in late 2015, fully optioned including the ceramics, i did 22k kms using it as a second daily driver, and loved every minute of it, though with our lockdowns over last 2 years here in australia i probably did 500km, if that

i had absolutely zero issues with the car, not even a squeak or rattle, but ultimately my newborn came along and having a 2 seat parked at home just became redundant

i loved that AJV8 so much i can't be without it in my life in some form, so i have an SVO BRG F-Pace SVR on the way (after a couple delays, going into production next month) as my dad wagon, and looking at a Ferrari Roma for that 2+2 seater sports car

unfortunately given the direction jaguar are going with ev's, the SVR will be my last new Jaguar, which is a shame as i've owned many German cars alongside it over the past 6+ years, and always preferred the hassle free jag ownership experience

enjoy the AJV8 while you can, especially you euro guys, as the world for motoring enthusiasts is quickly closing in

Sad to see it go.
Did you trade it in on the new ride or otherwise sell it already?
Coz if not I would be interested in taking it off your hands for a fair price.

Car was sold privately - seems there’s a bit of attention on these rwd v8’s atm

Honestly I kept the car way beyond my usual 12-24 month daily driver turn around purely for the engine and exhaust note. That the rest of the car was so trouble free was a bonus

i’m confident F-Pace SVR will provide that same AJ enjoyment in a much more usable (to me now) body

Hey bud,
Sad to hear, what a beautifully specced car! Just wow! Sounds like you really enjoyed it and like myself, enjoyed/problem free. Best car I've ever owned in terms of smiles per gallon lol. Family comes first though and it's great to see that you have your priorities in the right place! God bless you and your family.
You never know what the future brings, you may end up with a Jag in the future and we'll hear from you then!
Take care!

So....You love(d) the F-Type, but you had to get rid of it, because it is not practical for you and you are getting the SUV (F-Pace / "dad wagon"). But you indicate you are getting (or rather - looking at) a Roma? Hard to understand that logic honestly. Curious why didn't you just keep the F-Type and buy the F-Pace? And if you had to sell your F-Type to buy an F-Pace...Seems odd to be looking at a ~$220,000.00USD Ferrari Roma? Maybe because you were at your 12-24 month plus , and had to flip it?

Just difficult to follow your events/logic/intent?...But key take away is you liked your F-type and did not have issues with it I guess. So, great!

Probably because a Roma is amazing and you can bring your kids or the friends friend for about 3 miles without complains

Just look at the Roma, it has to be the prettiest car I've ever seen.

I was hoping to hear it cranked up, as it sounds more like a 6 than an 8 to me, but the looks are so fantastic I dont think I'd miss the F Type sound so much.

Try $600,000 - $650,000+ here in Oz, see here: https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/ferrari/roma/
So two to three times the price of a new F-Type R and four times the price of a lesser new F-Type.

Ferrari aren’t immune to struggling with sound of turbo cars, though they are doing a lot better at meeting new eu regs than say Bmw or Audi

find the videos with the novitec exhaust

no issues at all, no noise and solid pedal feel throughout. jags setup was infinitely better than some of the first gen ceramics I have on my collector cars - I’m actually trying to get in contact with lister to see if they can retro fit a set to the f-pace

Yes in no way is the roma comparable to an f-type other than the long bonnet sitting over rear wheels driving position - which i actually prefer

my decision to choose one or the other wasn’t financial

I had to go and take a cold shower after seeing the video from 15 seconds to about 30 seconds, then 50 seconds onward. Sounds insane.

yep that one clip from outside where it's rounding the corner is exactly how my 430 scud sounds - that novitec were able to achieve this on a turbo car is pretty impressive

it's a completely different v8 sound profile than the f-type, principally due to the flat plane design

i've done my fair share of opf removals and having to flash the ecu, but novitec have an obd dongle which can bypass the cel from removing opf without having to flash/void warranty on ecu

Yeah the only downside is that it seems you have to get the revs up to get that epic note. I'd lose my license in a few days.

The racing XK was probably one of the best sounding cars I've heard. You might enjoy this clip
