Default Rear spring too short for strut.

I am in the process of installing F Type lowering springs for V6 model. The front springs are installed and were much easier than the rears.

The rear springs seem to be about 7/8 of an inch too short to fit the stock strut and preload the spring from the top hat. Has anyone else had this issue? Can the rear spring be pre loaded by the control arm once it is installed?

7/8 inch gap from top hat with Eibach rear spring.

Left is stock rear spring, Right is Eibach spring.

It’s a shorter spring. It’s supposed to be like that. Just compress the shock to ensure proper seating before you install.
Btw, that Eibach spring looks like it will produce a fairly harsh ride.

In the picture, you do not have the spring loaded correctly. It has a specific orientation to sit in the cap, and it should be in a spring compressor to compress and tighten. I had problems with Eibach fitment as well, and they actually raised the front of mine 1/2 inch. I sent them back and went with VAP.

Also, you would expect the springs to be shorter since they are "lowering" springs. If they were not shorter, they would not lower the car. I would not recommend pre-loading on the car to fit.

Thanks. Just wanted to confirm. I will reinstall the Eibach rear springs soon and update you all on the results. What makes the rear so tough is reinstalling the link arm and lining up the strut to the control arm. Aligning the bolt holes takes around 20 tries with a jack.

The fronts look good so far at least.

Finished the install. Dropped each corner around an inch. Ride quality is still great, just slightly stiffer. Eibach springs for my V6 S RWD was a success. $400 well spent. Thanks for the help.

Eibach lowering springs and 15 mm spacers.

Looks great. Thanks for the vid.

I got Eibach springs too but I realized all too late that my car has no wheel lock key nor code in the manual. Was going to install the springs this week while I still have time off of work. Super annoying, but oh well.. gotta get that sorted out.
