Default Red leather interior

Just in the process of finalizing the spec for my R allocation. Eiger grey exterior, and I'm going back and forth between the black or red interior (both would be the extended leather option with the pleating on the doors and the leather on the dash).

Though maybe the red would give an otherwise "boring" grey some pop.

Was just wondering how folks on here are finding their choosing the red leather? Is it wearing well? Is it getting tired over time for you?

I can't speak for Jaguar, but my BMW 3-series hardtop convertible had the red/black interior with the anthracite grey exterior so very similar to what you are building. I had that car ten years and I still loved the interior on that car the day I sold it as on the day I bought it. It's a great combination. Of course, it can also depend on 'how much' red. In the BMW, it was restricted to seats and door panels, whereas I believe the Jag also has it on the dash and grab handle.

I've now had 3 F-Types all with the red interior and it's wearing extremely well and I'll never tire of it. If you add the "interior black pack" option the contrast inside is amazing and I've received many compliments from friends and car event participants. Grey exterior with the red interior would look awesome and was my second favorite color combo. Good luck with your potential purchase!

Appreciate those pics you guys. It really shows it well.

As does this video (3:40) -->

I love the classic black interior as well, but I just wanted to bring a bit of interest to the car. Had I gone with a louder exterior color the black interior would be a no brainer.

Still humming and hawing a bit here, but I think I'm getting close ;-0

Was just wondering how these red seats were in terms of dirt and cracking and stuff...All I have ever had in my vehicles is black leather (I know, boring...lol).

Hey, what exactly is that package? First time I hear of it, so curious what it is. I know about the exterior black pack, but not the interior one. And all interiors that I've seen look the same to me, so maybe it's standard in the US? Noticed that UK car had Alcantara on the dash 'hump', and I don't think the US has that, but maybe I'm wrong. Or maybe just that 'first edition'. Anyway, below is one that I'm considering, which happens to be red too (with Meridian Surround, which is a deal-breaker option for me). Does it have the interior 'black pack'? Thank you. By the way, my preference is tan full extended leather and white exterior, but can't fine anything. And it's rare to find the Surround stereo, so also looking at pristine used ones like this one. Thx.

The "Interior Black Pack" is an $800 option that replaces most but not all of the silver trim pieces on the doors and dashboard area with gloss black trim.

I had full red on my first F-Type. At the time, you would not get the R embossed on the seat with full red but you would if you only had red inserts. I'm not sure, why, that's just how it was for at least a few years. I stopped checking after about 2018, so that may have changed. When I moved from my R coupe to my SVR convertible, I went black on black, largely because my wife told me she had kept quite, but always hated the red. The contrasting stitching provides a little relief from the sea of black, but I admit to missing the red interior.

Side note, I HATED the red interior at first, but it really grew on my in time.

Oh, I see; thank you very much. But I only noticed that on the doors; yours still has the shiny shifter area. Don't see anything else shiny on the one I'm considering, but obviously doesn't have that pack since it has the shiny surround on the doors. However, it doesn't look bad at all IMO, especially if the rear seat 'holes' are still shiny on yours, plus the paddles and steering wheel trim. And the shifter is still shiny, but doesn't look bad either. Thanks again. Hope I can find a tan car, but this red would be acceptable to me. But I think this car might have been auctioned off, and those unaccounted 500 miles probably very rough ones. Will look for something new until I exhaust all possibilities.

The interior black pack is a nice touch but not worth the cost in my opinion and if I ordered the car I probably would have passed on that option.

If you're not convinced yet, more pictures won't help so I'll just give a verbal. My coupe is corris grey with the red interior and I love it........so does everyone else that sees it and give constant positive exclamations. I've had a dozen Black on Black cars and will never do it again, even here in michigan where the sun is not prevelent like the south and western parts of the U.S. My second choice with the grey would be another classic combo with the tan leather. At the end of the day, anyway you choose will look great; so pull the trigger and start counting the days till you get it!

^ What Paul said. I actually get a little annoyed when people seem to be more impressed with the red interior than the exterior of the car. I'm always trying to divert their attention with "but come back here and look at the rear end"! I will never own another car with a black exterior but am OK with a black interior as long as it has ample silver trim pieces or different colored stitching in the leather for contrast.

If you're referring to mine, I hope you're wrong - that's a full leather option!

Appreciate that info friend. Have some friends with an SUV that has red leather and they are telling me it surprisingly shows very little dirt if any.

This would have been a nice way to ease into a red interior for the first time ;-)

I could be wrong, but my memory is that this half and half option was not bring the extended full leather? Is that the case?

I considered the red leather interior until I saw in in person in a showroom. It was way too much "tomato red" for me. I would have preferred a dark cherry red shade. I once owned a Mazda RX7 GSL-SE that was silver with dark red leather and very attractive.

I ended up going with the tan full leather upgrade on my F Type. I do have to say though that I like the half & half option like scm's photo but the shade of red is still not to my preference.
