Default Remote start

i'm convinced the only reason for this feature is to allow you to hear the start up bark from outside the car

Agree, I don't get it either. However for those that, dare I say it, drive their car in the snow, perhaps may like it.

Although my time working around SW London, I recall a good 5mm of snow on ground warrants a disaster plan, so leaving the house is not happening, so again no need for the remote start. Yep at a loss.

I drive when it's cold and sunny, but not snowing. In northeast we get many mornings in mid-twentys, no snow, but maybe a light frost that turns into a mid 50s or higher afternoon. Happens often in spring and fall. Drive with windows down, heated seats and steering wheel, and radio blasting. Very invigorating, but it helps to warm the car up before you go out via remote start. Windows and mirrors defrost.

Agree 100% do the same. I rarely have the top up even down into lower 50s. I suppose we're just a bit hardier here in Wisconsin, speaking as an expat. Although I think I am the one and only Giants fan in the state. But since we like cold here we start our cars ourselves and wait.

I'd rather have remote start than remote top (ya, I know it doesn't have remote top either). I hate sitting in the driveway waiting for the RPMs to kick down.

When im in a hurry (always), I can start my jeep from the kitchen, finish my coffee and go. My buddies think it's a riot that my Chrysler (Rubicon) has remote start, but the jag doesn't. I'm not as humored.

I have the remote start in my Jeep (Sahara) also, but I do need to remote start that in the snow.

I actually have the opposite problem - black car with black interior in South Florida. I'll sometimes remote start it to cool off a little so I don't burn to death when I sit down. Especially in shorts.

I find it useful (especially the target temp) when it's 100+ degrees here in LA and the car has sat in the sun for a few hours. Gets pretty hot in there and I hate to get in and start sweating like a peasant...

Good points on the cooling, hadn't used it for that yet.

I can see that as good reason for it. Not as common a problem where I am, so had not thought about it that way.

I often say I would rather be in the North during winter, than Houston in the summer. That changed when I was in Nebraska in January, damn it was ridiculously cold. Forget about remote start, I would move.

Can you remote start without turning on the climate control?

No

You would just have to set it for a reasonable temperature
