Default Remove seat belts

Hi guys. I have an F Type, and I would like to get colored seat belts. Therefore, I need to know how to remove our seat belts. Is there a "how to" article on how to remove Jaguar F Type seat belts?

Of course, I would have the seat belts sewn and replaced by a certified seat belt specialist, who I have used in the past. Thanks!

I don't have any useful information, but the curiosity is killing me. What color are you doing your seatbelts and what color is your interior?

Lobster. It's currently all black, but I want to customize it. I don't have a specific design or color in mind yet. I just know I want to do it. I'm looking at other people's pic of their interior to get inspiration.

I've deleted the duplicate of this question you posted in General Tech Help.

Anyone unaware of the importance of disarming the SRS before working on the seat belts could give incorrect or even dangerous advice.

Hi Graham. I'm not sure why you would delete the same post on the General Tech section. There might be someone who knows the workings of Jaguar seat belts, but who doesn't have an F-type, or visit the F-type section. And vice versa. I feel this is not only an F type question, but also a General Tech question.

I would like to post it again in the General Tech section for the reasoning above. Please let me know if you have an objection to this. Thank you very much.

Thanks for you PM. I'll respond here so all can see the answer.

As a basic principle, we don't want duplicate postings across forums. In addition, in this instance I didn't consider it appropriate for General Tech Help as it's a model specific question.

The only common procedure with seat belt removal on current models is the safety precautions required to deactivate the SRS prior to removal of the belts or buckles.

The issue is then one of seat and trim removal to access the upper and lower securing bolts. Each model has its own peculiarities in this respect and those likely to have any knowledge of F-Type trim removal will be found in this forum.

I changed my black ones to red zone. With the seat belts that was about $1,500. Even the Jaguar mechanics struggled with this one. A lot has to be removed to get to the spool at the bottom.

Schwabe, so the Jaguar mechanics did it? I was hoping that I could do it at home, because I would need to send the seat belts out and that would take at minimum 1 1/2 weeks back and forth. And I don't want to drive the car home from the dealership without seat belts, or leave it there.

If you did the removal, or know how the dealership mechanics did it, please let me know. Thanks a lot!

Why are you sending the seatbelts out? Are you getting them dyed? I can personally attest that removing the seatbelts is a pain in the *** as it does require pretty much the entire rear bulkhead to be removed. Given how susceptible these cars are to interior squeaks and rattling, I wouldn't take apart the interior.

Yep, the Jaguar dealer did it. I did mine in a Cayman once. Super pain in the behind. Had the front and the rear in my 911 turbo done by dealer. Quiet a few labor hours you will pay for but just not fun working behind the seat folded forward and taken much of the rear section out.
