Default Removing front lip center piece 2016 model

Does the entire front bumper have to come off like to replace the surround piece? I bought a Koshi carbon fiber overlay, but it's so tight I might not even overlay it and just replace it. It's just as think as the original. Unless there's s something behind the OEM part that would prevent this, Any help?

I can’t say 100% if it has to, but I can’t imagine how you would realistically access the backside unless it is removed. I took the whole clip off to fit my p7 grill and Koshi overlay. I’m actually remounting it in the next few weeks so I will have it off again - time consuming but even leaving the bumper on requires removal of many screws to access the backside.

OP, are you talking about the front splitter/diffuser piece?
Coz if you are there is no need to remove the front bumper/clip to replace it, I replaced mine a few years ago with a new one as the original had been badly damaged by impact with a large chunk of road debris.
It can all be done from underneath, just jack the front end up, remove the front undertray and the box shaped plastic piece under that, then undo five or six smallish screws which mount the piece to the bumper (Torx I think but may be Philips). You can't access those screws easily without removing that box shaped piece.
One good tip I got from XDave when fitting the new piece was to heat it up a bit with a hairdryer as you need to bend it a little to fit it and when cold it is too stiff to bend but bends easily when heated up.
Edit - forgot I still had it - a pdf of the fitting instructions now attached.
The box shaped piece is shown in panel # 5 and there are four (4) Torx mounting screws per panel # 9.
The upload she don't a work, I will try something else!

Try again with the upload.
For some reason the upload function does not recognise this file as a .pdf although that is what it is, so I have revised the extension to .csv.
Just download it then revise the extension back to .pdf and it should be good to go!

, Thank you his is exactly what I needed. The overlay is so hard and thickI,I think it can survive on its own wih out the hassle of proxy and self tapping screws.( plus I had it PPF applied when i git it for chips) I have factory fiber on all my other outside parts except the small front skirts. I just had the surround wrapped black because I didn't want to hassle with the labor. I dechroned the rest and powdercoated the rims. This is the last piece on the list. Thanks again

Yes

Not sure if you already have PPF on that center piece that the carbon piece is covering, but I did and decided to remove it as the fit is very tight. I am going to remount mine with VHB tape on the rear portion of the top and have two small black screws to attach underneath. I initially put tape on the leading edge, but again, due to the tight fit, I had to remove. I realize PPF is thin, but you will see a difference in fit with and without it. If you are able to go over the PPF, godspeed, but thought i would share my experience.

No, i had rhe PPF removed from the black OEM piece, you're100% coreect to thick and sticky. But i had it applied to the new carbon piece on the outside, not wrapped around to thicken the iinside on the new cabon fiber overlay. No way was the overlay going to fit with PPF on the OEM black splitter. And it's still to tight. This is why I was going to forget the overlay and just use the new part alone. If not, it's going to take apoxy and 2 self tapping screws for that to stay on and in place.
