Default Replacing engine - what else do you recommend?

Hey guys,

I'm on a lot of forums but unfortunately not on this one so this is my first post here. I rent out my 2015 Jaguar F-Type R (among other fun vehicles) and some asshat blew the engine. Story and details aside, my chosen shop is currently 3 weeks out from putting in a new "remanufactured" engine into it as part of the insurance claim.

I am already going to be doing the pulleys and an ECU flash from Velocity.

I am asking if anyone has any thoughts on what ELSE someone might do if you were in this situation and you had the entire engine out of the vehicle. I figure this will probably be the only time the engine and components will ever be this accessible ever again. I'm no mechanic, so I'm looking to see if I can be a little preventative here, fix known issues, or add performance items that are usually hard to add. I can find all kinds of random information about issues that do or don't plague the jag. I'm just asking if it was YOUR jag, what would you be looking to do without doing anything ridiculous.

Thanks!
Rexx

Hi, Welcome. I know there is another thread floating around that might be very useful. Offhand, I would consider replacing:

Plastic cooling pipes underneath the supercharger
Plugs
Injectors
SC coupler
motor mounts
remove symposer
nutshell blast intake valves

Good luck!

Wow. That wiped out a lot of rental income unless you can charge the renter the cost of the engine replacement.

I would add replacement of SC oil and the water pump to the above list.

Can you give any info on the remanufactured engine? We have been told by more than one dealer there are no rebuilt or remanufactured engines. Only new and used engines. Is somebody in the after market rebuilding these now?
Sorry to hear of your engine troubles too!

Yeah I can ask where they are getting it. I was surprised as well. Thought they were going to total the vehicle.

I'll ask Monday and let you know.

We got the insurance company to approve engine replacement. Got lucky with remanufactured engine apparently. Shop submitted for a complete new supercharger and connecting parts as well due to the heat but the insurance company basically wants us to try it with only an engine replacement and see how it works out lol. I deal with insurance with my other company so we are used to their dumb ideas but we did finally get a more knowledgeable adjuster to help us get settled properly. It was known since week 2 after the incident that it was a renter issue. We had it in the shop at the dealership with clean inspection results twice within the last month. Once was due to some warranty issue. Even with all this... it took us 3 months to get them to finally release money so yeah we are out 3k a month at least just on rental and obviously have a payment that doesn't get covered. You plan for this stuff but not fun when it happens. At least it wasn't totalled ?? Lol.

Had a modded 95k dollar Raptor that got taken to Mexico on a permanent vacation with the cartel so at least this I get to keep this one. It's got the ceramic brakes and RWD type R and I can't find an equal replacement very easily. I swap cars out here and there but I'm planning on keeping this permanently. Love this thing.
