Hi everyone,
I have a 2018 v6 manual 340hp f type and there's always been something I don't really understand. My model has an open differential and uses torque vectoring by braking. I don't take my car to the track and don't live in an area with a lot of rain or snow. My question is whether I would notice any differences in daily driving with an open diff vs a lsd. I did just put Michelin pilot sport tires on the car and it did make a huge positive difference. I also don't really understand the torque vectoring by braking. I know that McLaren also uses an open diff and brake steering. Is this the same system as my car or different?
Any info is much appreciated!
Thanks,
Nick

I can’t speak to your McLaren question, but can try to explain torque vectoring. If the TV module perceives one of the rear wheels spinning faster than the other, it will apply the brakes to the spinning wheel which forces the power to the other wheel through the open diff. The mechanical LSD on the V6S relies on internal friction discs to accomplish the same thing. A bit better, but not nearly as good as a geared locker like a Torsen.
