Default Route 128 to the Coast

Off to Mendocino on Friday for the annual Wine and Wild Mushroom festival. Route 128 is a windy, twisty up and down road and such fun to take in a MT roadster. Constant shifting, braking and turning. There are signs telling slow-pokes to take turnoffs to let faster cars pass. Now my wife had two places to hold on for dear life. We will see how many bottles we can fit with luggage. Should be sunny so top down.

I love that road. North to 128, 128 to the coast, spend the night in Ft. Bragg, then come home. If the coast is clear, south on 1, if not, take 20 to Willits and head south from there.

Hwy 128 is an excellent cross-section of a big piece of California.

I do remember that route from my days in the Bay Area. I had just purchased my first new BMW 325 MT in 1986 and remember feeling like I was in heaven.

It used to rain then, and all the reservoirs were full.
