I had the work done a while back, but noticed in the recent rain that my driver's window was heavily streaked. I cleaned the grit out from between the seal and the glass, and was surprised at how much there was even with the updated seals. I then gave a bit of a polish to the glass with my random orbital polisher using cerium oxide and the special pads it came with. Better, but I'm going to add cleaning that area to my car wash routine.

The dealer wouldn't replace my window even though there was a TSB

my glass and rubbers were replace last September and they have scratched again quite badly despite me making special effort to make sure debris is washed away from the seals when cleaning.

Its back at the main dealer tomorrow, they are going to photograph problem and send info to jaguar.

Had my window seals replaced under warranty, but dealer is refusing to replace scratched windows, because they are tinted. Anyone have any documentation they can share that could help out?

I had this done on my former 2016 F-type and they did change the windows since they were scratched. I'm assuming you referred them to the Technical Bulletin procedure (see section highlighted below) whereby they need to use a 'plastic tool' to see if there are scratches on the window. If there are, then the window gets replaced as a separate claim as "consequential damage". Whether the windows are tinted or not should be irrelevant to whether the window is or is not scratched.

In my case, since the windows were found to have been scratched, they replaced both windows. They also agreed to redo the tinting after installing the windows.

I did bring up this TSB....they said the tint on the windows was a "gray" area and Jaguar wouldn't approve. Going to a different dealership which seems much more willing to help. Thanks for sharing that.

I have the new style seals but still see signs of grit being trapped. I believe that the problem is inherent in the vehicle design. The angle of the door glass allows dirt to collect and slide down to the seal. When the door opens, the window drops slightly, trapping the dirt.

I've made it part of my cleaning routine to clean that area. I slide something between the glass and see to pick up the dirt. I've also re-polished the driver's side glass, as that's the one that gets used most.
