Default Servicing Intervals

sorry - I'm sure this has been discussed before but ...

I've had the car now for 8 months and done 6000 miles - next service states 12 months or 16000 miles - this seems a lot for a new car ie more normal (on other cars I've owned) would be about the 6000 miles and then 12, 15 or 18k etc thereafter

I have the 5 year servicing plan as well

If i took it in early, would there be an additional charge ?

I believe the small print says within 1000 miles or a month of the "target" service date otherwise you pay for it yourself...

Based on oil testing done by couple of us it looks like 16000 mile intervals may be ok, but the initial change should be done much sooner. You should consider an oil change now (at 6k miles). You can do this yourself with an inexpensive ($60) vacuum extraction bottle and $100 for oil and filter.

thanks
I'll take it to my local service centre (apparently highly commended) - Jaguar approved - and just get the oil and filter done - I can do most things, but don't have the facilities to get rid of the waste products

That certainly can be a problem. Fortunately, we have a county recycling center within 16 miles. I save up the used oil and make an annual run over there. With 6 vehicles, that adds up to a few gallons.
