i actually just started working on it today as most parts have arrived for my suspension overhaul. Sadly the spring compressor i borrowed from auto zone does not fit.

i will update once i get everything done, it’s gonna be a while.

To kind of answer your question, no i don’t think there will be any issue, these aren’t high tech parts.

Got it out with the help of a different spring compressor, surprisingly the padding material is still intact, so the flakes are indeed coming from the top mount bushing, i will do the drive side tomorrow, it looks worse and is making a lot of noise, wonder if the shock itself is worn…

Default Same Issue - Qatar

When I went to pick up the car, he lifted the hood and showed me the shock bushings that were the problem. The bushings had basically disintegrated and were like powder. I was told that the rear bushings were shot as well. The car is garaged in Florida for 7 months and I'm wondering if the constant high temperature caused the failure or was something else. Has anyone else had this problem or it it just a normal problem on a 6 year old Jag? Bushings will be replaced this October and wondering if I should request a different material. Any help or advice is appreciated
Hi,
Jag F-Type R 2015, based in Qatar. Yes i have faced the same issue. A Knock high up. I opened the bonnet and found rubber particles in the strut well. I removed the Shock Absorber and found the top mount has disintegrated and also the rubber seating ring has failed / disintegrated. Only done 90,000 Km so im sure it is heat related. Here in Qatar we are at 45 to 50 C for 6 months plus. Plastics / Rubbers just dont last. In the middle of replacing mine. Hope yours turned out ok.
