Show N Go retractable front license plate
In Illinois, they require a front license plate, but the plate ruins the look of the car in my opinion. Has anyone had any experience having the Show N Go retractable front license plate installed on the F-Type?

The car is already so low to the ground, I often scratch the front lip beneath the bumper, so I worry about installing this. Anyone have experience with this?

And where'd you get that picture attached to your post, my garage? Not sure your "S" is V8 or V6 (mine's a 6) but it sure looks exactly like mine.

I installed one of these on my XKR as the provincial police around here are fanatics and I got tired of being pulled over.
It worked well on the XKR... I couldn't figure out if it would work on the F type R due to clearance and of course the front splitter. Took it to my trusted master mechanic at the Jaguar dealer and he inspected and said it would not install, without a lot of modification and clearance would be a big issue.
I ended up installing my license plate with Earth Magnets that hold it in place (no holes) and I take it off whenever I cross the border. No hassle in the U.S., likely because I have Ontario plates and they couldn't be bothered.

Don't do it Michael! (Run a front plate). We've had this discussion also several times before and while some States appear to absolutely insist (enforce) on a front plate - all the States I've lived in do - on my sports cars I never have (and simply keep the "front" plate in the trunk/boot. But even that's never come up). I completely agree that it, let's just say, "detracts" from the look of the car (but doesn't bother others here). Worth the risk in my opinion.

I have a plate holder for the front that has suction cups. The plate stays in my trunk so that if I need it (or need to take the car in for a "fix-it" ticket), then I can stick it to the car temporarily. Cant be used to drive at speed, but if you want to park at a meter or in a public street where the meter people are hanging around, it is a great alternative.

To each his/her own (from value stems to the skies the limit). My advice: leave it alone (but get the value stems).
My 2-cents.

why not put it central
Burnie xx
Interesting that a few of you think it looks terrible. Front plate in general looks terrible as most cars are not designed for them. Yet you go to any car meet and I would suggest that a third of the exotics have their plates off center instates that require them.
I prefer it centered, but I don't think it looks terrible that way.
I also think the phobia provoked by fear of drilling little holes in the plastic bumper guard is a bit over-the-top. For anyone who later finds themselves in a location more friendly to no front plates, those little holes can be plugged in about 5 minutes with upholstery fasteners available at Eastwood and many other places. They are no more objectionable than the look of the parking sensors.

I think the off center plate brings more attention to it being there. In fact, if you mount it in the center in a conventional manner, you will be able to use a typical black plastic mount which blends in so much better.
Exactly, like the one that JLR supplies OEM with the car, which fits perfectly.
