My understanding is that non-AWD side sills are slightly smaller/less pronounced.
IMO, my 2016 Type R's (AWD) side sills are ridiculously large and should have remained black and not be body-colored. If I ever stop being lazy, I was planning on wrapping mine
I am OK with body color, but I do not like the side sills at all, mostly because they are the first thing to get cruddy dirty and I mean really dirty. Might not notice as much on a silver car, but on orange they are going to be dirty a lot.

Just take them off. The car looks better without them.
The skinnier 14-15 versions, that were black std on the V8s, weren't very noticeable, and I could live with those. However, if I had a 2016+ V8, I'd pay a body shop to remove them. Not sure, but it may require purchasing and painting std. base rocker panels, but that wouldn't be terribly expensive. It's the same body, so fit wouldn't be a problem.
In my opinion, the biggest problem with the '16 sills is that they're too horizontal and too wide....it's like a long book shelf where I wouldn't be surprised that you can actually fit some books on it! Because of this design, it picks up a surprising amount of road debris and dead insects. Not removing them but definately will get it wrapped this summer.
Funny thing,
my 2017 R AWD came with black side sills. Looks much better than body color. Moreover, the rear diffusor is no longer body color (which I prefer), it's dark gray like on earlier models.
Maybe only for Europe ??
The sports design pack sills are a lot wider than the ones on the beautiful BRG R above. They bulge out in the middle as well. At about the back of the door they would have to be 4 inches wide easy. I have to stick me feet out further when getting out of the car to hop over them,it is a bit of a pain.
I wouldnt have specced them with the car, but they do look pretty good in the flesh. I'm having them wrapped in black though to give the car its waist back.
You're making it too hard on folks. First they have to find your long-ago thread, and second, many had trouble spotting the difference when you originally posted. The angles on those pictures aren't quite right. :-)

Ha! Fine... I'll stop being lazy:
The vehicle arrived at Jaguar of Troy, and being a 2016, had the awful color matched rockers and rear diffuser. The sales manager thought this looked good color matched and urged me to take a look at it before giving the go ahead to paint the vehicle. I agreed and went down to take a look...
What was obvious to me, was apparently invisible to the Jaguar end of line quality control, the port inspection personnel, Jaguar of Naples and Jaguar of Troy... My car had one 2015 side skirt and one 2016 side skirt. Instantly noticeable to me being completely different, but somehow missed by everyone else. This new car happened to be an even earlier VIN than the one I ordered, so I'd imagine it was one of the very first 2016s built. These things happen, but for everyone to miss it was shocking. However this was a happy accident, I absolutely hate the look of the 2016 skirts, regardless of color, and had them order a replacement 2015 version at no cost to me. This would of course take a few days and then had to be painted.
And the full saga (because its much more than this):
