Default Slightly scraped sound when parking car on incline

hey folks,

Was trying to park my car on a slightly inclined spot in a parking lot. Heard a slight scrape when i went up it and backed up slowly immediately and heard it again. pavement hitting the bottom, did i miss anything up at the bottom or the protective coating?

Am I stressing for no reason?

Appreciate all the answers

There is a plastic protector lip under the bumper that will scrape on the concrete arrestors sometimes, no problem if it is that.

Default The protector

Here is what I bought for my 2017. It's all 3 pieces.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/256018915070

Probably will buy another set to keep on the shelf. The OE one on the car is pretty trashed and I'm sure the replacement I plan to put on this month will end up the same way. Doesn't look like a complicated job and can probably do it without a lift.

Hopefully you didn't scrape the bumper cover itself. Just run your fingers under it, and you'd know if you scraped it. On most cars, you'd hit the bumper first, unfortunately. Report back when you check. Good luck.

Nobody can help over the internet with "I heard a scrape is everything OK"

Get under there and have a look for yourself 🥸

I don’t know i hit that or something else at the bottom of the car. Does the ftype have enough clearance to not hit anything directly past the bumper protector?

I bought the car used so it might be old scrapes - is it possible to scrape anything else underneath beyond the bumper protector?

Not sure, but I've scraped the protector heaps and never damaged anything else

Are you comfortable working on cars? Do you have tools? One thing you should have in your kit is a mirror on an extendable/telescoping handle. Don't know where you are in world... Si vous etes a Monaco... Amazon est la!!

The other tool is a light source. Again, on Amazon, battery-powered or plug in. Depends on what your setting is.. outside only? garage?

Put a large piece of cardboard down and take your light source to look underneath. You will see the front spoiler/deflector. It is black, somewhat flexible plastic/rubber. It is in 3 sections. On the attached diagram, they are pieces 17, 18 and 19. From what you describe, it was this 'deflector' that scraped. I think it was designed to do just as it did for you, to protect the solid parts of the underbody of the front 'lip'. As for you fitting underneath, I have no idea if you are 5ft tall or 7 ft tall, 125 lbs or ??

Do you have the manual for this car? Here is a link to the Jaguar owners guide.

https://www.ownerinfo.jaguar.com/

Most important things... know how to check the oil level; know how to check the coolant level. Do you have the CarFax for the car? when was its last oil change? How old is the battery?? Since you bought this used, you may not have a good idea of how well (or not) it was cared for.

Do you have a JaguarLandRover dealer near you? It may be worth the money to make an appointment for them to check the car over. They can put it on a lift to check the underside.. there are issues with rust in certain areas. They can also connect an OnBoardDiagnostic tool to check for codes that the car has registered indicating potential issues.

As stated in another response, there is NO way for any of us to be able to figure out what is going on under the car. As for the question about the car's clearance, Never drive over anything, branches, clumps of stuff in the road, etc. Basically you have JUST the distance from the ground to the side panel of the car as in the side view image.
