Just wanted to report on how this key recognition problem was finally resolved. Brian (Tech_JLR) made a long drive to my home and reprogrammed all the corrupted modules for a more than reasonable price. The vehicle now fully recognizes the key fob. Highly recommend contacting Tech_JLR for programming issues if you live in So Cal.

And if changing the car battery yourself, make sure power is continuously maintained.
